'LADIMIR Putin has dispatched his most elite special forces team to Syria to hunt down and wipe out Islamic State (ISIS) militants.
The Russian supremo ordered the deployment of soldiers from his fearsome Spetsnaz unit to root out and eliminate packs of fleeing jihadis.
A battalion of elite paratroopers also ghosted into the war-torn country this week as Putin ramps up his assault on the Islamist fanatics and rebel forces fighting to topple dictator Bashar al-Assad.
The deployment of the Spetsnaz - the elite of the elite in Russia's army who have to undergo a gruelling training programme to earn their stripes - is the latest example of the megalomaniac leader's ruthless determination to shore up the rule of his close ally.'

ISIS is Putin’s stated reason for a military campaign in Syria. No way he “defeats” them. “ISIS” is going to be around along time, bank on it.

And this is why those fleeing should not be permitted into the general population, but held in refugee camps and repatriated when Putin’s done.

Just goes to show.....if nothing else, Putin is consistent----he backed Egyptian president al Sisi in throwing the Muslim Brotherhood out of Egyptian politics.
Putin also backed al Sisi when the Egyptian president vowed to rebuild the churches and Christian businesses destroyed by the Muslim savages.

IMHO, we need to reconsider the geopolitical equation here ASAP. It's worth contemplating that the "Assad is a Bogeyman" agit-prop came from the ding-a-ling in the WH.

Even the better if ISIS is around a long time. Let the Ruskies get involved in a quagmire. The only bad outcome is if Obami feels threatened and decides to take them on which would not end well for anyone except ISIS.

Guaranteed - 100% - that if they had gone in to "fight" ISIS, their ROE would've been so restrictive and idiotic as to make them nothing but sacrificial targets. Anyone want to guess the Spetsnaz ROE? Probably something like "Kill ISIS" and not much more complicated than that. Ok, maybe if Putin et. al. are feeling generous "Kill ISIS, try not to kill anyone else, but don't let that get in the way of your primary goal: kill ISIS."
Not a problem. Putin will probably be willing to send forces here to help us fight them. Perhaps individual states can enter an agreement with Putin for protection from terrorists organizations.

What would you require as evidence?
I would love to see ISIS try to melt into the villages and then get turned over to Spetsnaz for execution. Unfortunately, I think they will just go home or go to some other country they can terrorize and destabilize. In any case, a stable Syria will be an improvement over one with ISIS and civil war, even with increased Russian influence.
