I think many of those who were shot were too young to remember “Let’s roll.” They were four or five years old in 2001.

Teach it. Never forget.

Practice it. I’d love to see schools bring in a self-defense trainer in a padded suit to gym class and teach the ten year olds how to attack en masse.

Just last week my little 8 year old neighbor told me that they had an intruder drill that day at her elementary school. The kids were told to throw everything they had at the intruder if the intruder came into their room.

She said that they talked about it all day in every class. Being an 8 year old, they asked a teacher if they could throw the bleachers at the intruder, and the teacher said, yes - everybody get together and throw those bleachers at the intruder!

I think they are getting the right message down here in Alabama! It is so sad that kids have to be taught this, but I am so happy they are being taught to be proactive instead of passive.
