Rep. Steve Scalise told supporters in a conference call Sunday evening that he has the votes to win the race for majority leader, according to sources on the call.
The Louisiana Republican, currently the majority whip, sent an email to supporters Sunday saying he had a "big announcement." Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) is considering moving back the election, a move that would give conservatives time to find someone to oppose Scalise and Rep. Tom Price (R-Ga.), who is also running for the post.
Weasly Boehner hitman.
Majority Whip Steve Scalise, R-La., told members of his caucus earlier in the year that he would not tolerate members voting against the party on rules.
In January, Reps. Daniel Webster and Richard Nugent, both of Florida, lost chairmanships on subcommittees after voting against Boehner in his re-election bid as speaker.
"While whip team members are free to vote their conscience on underlying bills, they are expected to vote as a team on procedural matters such as last week's rule vote," Scalise wrote in an email to the caucus explaining his actions in January.
All the guys who win will be weasly Boehner sellouts.
More evidence that Boehner was a symptom, not the disease.
Thanks for the reminder and link.
If he is from Louisiana, and acts like this, it means that he ate some bad Jambalaya, that went hallucinogenic.
He’s just another Boner boy sent there by some low info voters from my part of the state.
Instead, all we're seeing is Boehner's power hungry cronies Scalise and McCarthy, the next two GOP-E hacks in line for those jobs.
I take it they don’t want to suffer the retribution when they lose. Which means it really comes down to even lower-level GOP congressmen being much more Establishment-oriented than they play to their voting base back home.
Snake in the grass! No, no, no! Not a conservative!
That's why we get anonymous GOPe bureaucrats running the show who are more concerned with going along to get along than doing the right thing for the American people.
They want to play with the fire, but aren’t willing to get close enough to where they might get burnt! These guys are politicians, after all!
They believe that once the fire has died done enough, they can stick their hands back in there and fool the public concerning their bravery!
Unfortunately, they are usually right!
Yep, a little election season kabuki theater to try to trick those unruly Trump voters into falling behind one of their Establishment men.
do we really want the New Orleans Mob back in power?
