Former U.N. ambassador Bill Richardson on Sunday said he has never seen the state of international affairs in worse shape.
Theres so many trouble spots, Richardson told host John Catsimatidis on The Cats Roundtable on New Yorks AM-970.
Youve got Iraq, youve got the Iran situation, youve got Syria, youve got several wars in Africa going on, youve got Columbia and Venezuela fighting each other, youve got the immigration issue unsettled, youve got North Korea, youve got the refugee situation in Syria this kind of explosion of problems.
The former Democratic New Mexico governor said U.S. relations with Russia have not been good and advocated for a stronger international coalition to thwart Russian aggression in Syria and eastern Europe.
What we need in Syria is an international coalition that basically gets [Syrian President Bashar] Assad out in some kind of transition, maybe he doesnt lose his power completely, but we need an international coalition there, Richardson said.
The countrys collapsing, weve got thousands of refugees, but it shows that our relationship with Russia is not good, he continued
Richardson also said the U.S. can lessen Russias leverage over Europe by exporting more oil and gas.
It is a very big political game. What we need to do, I believe, is export our oil and gas. I think that makes sense, Richardson, who served as secretary of Energy under President Clinton, said.
It helps us geopolitically in eastern Europe against Russia, that squeezes countries with their natural gas, he added.
The former ambassador also said the U.S. should negotiate a nuclear deal with North Korea similar to the agreement with Iran.
Weve made this deal with Iran, and Im not entirely sold on that, I think with North Korea we need to approach them the same way, Richardson said. Look, North Korea, get rid of your nuclear weapons. In exchange, maybe you get some food, some humanitarian assistance, some energy assistance.
He called the fascist state a tinderbox that could explode by just totally ignoring the situation.
Did he forget to mention “Bush’s fault”?
With the Norks???
the Global Landscape would be vastly Improved in we would but PLANT all the inane whiney obnoxious socialists..
Did he forget to mention he was for Obama and was called a “Judas” by the Cue ball?”
Common sense from Bill Richardson?
Lord help me, I am coming home Elizabeth. (grabbing my heart)
Colombia and Venezuela are not at war...........But let him speak if it draws attention to the obama!`
Maybe like Obama, Richardson's happy about the US failing... Also why would we want to export our gas and oil? In a future war with Iran we'll need every drop we've got for ourselves.
We need industry BACK in the US too. During World War II we were able to turn car plants into places putting out tanks. What would we do today if there was a war? Convert our potato chip factories?
"The Global Landscape is not some kind of yard upkeep thingy and anyone who says it is hasn't been watching the grass grow."
It is Bush’s fault.
Bill, you seem to have not gotten the memo. An international coalition has already formed and is actively working toward a solution in Syria.
The first course of action is to rid the country of terrorists, all the terrorists.
All going well on that front.
The US isn’t involved because of the total mess we made with 0bama’s Arab Spring tour.
Nature abhors a vacuum.
That statement was simply incoherent. He doesn't like the deal we made with Iran, so he thinks we should go do the same thing with the Norks.
China+Russia and World War 3 does not look good for us.
I think we are on the verge.
I talked to a man years ago that had seen WW1 and WW2. He said neither started the way the masses where expecting.
Just another old Clintonista.
NEVER elect an ANTI-CHRISTIAN, MUSLIM MARXIST GAY MAN_BOY!
Remember that Richardson is a Clinton creature.
