He kick Meadows off of a subcommittee. I can’t remember which and he reinstated him after the good guys objected.
He talked about that today on FNC. Apparently Meadows boot was from the Speaker, but after a closed door meeting with a bunch of others, he recended the boot, which probably really pissed Boner.
Chaffetz seems to be reasonable and mostly conservative, much more so that McCarthy, especially considering no one else has their hat in the ring. One big point in his favor is that nobama has tried to undermine him with the Secret Service thing.
