Horrible.

NO civilian, in his right mind, would go to Afghanistan. There is nothing there, no water, little arable land, no stable government.

There are continual feuds, over water, land, money, families, women, animals, anything. They are a land-locked country with NOTHING, absolutely nothing.

Except enormous poppy fields that both Bush and Obama refused to burn to the ground to shut off the revenue.

Even so, they will come up with things to be proud about:

"I have the finest dirt floor in all of Kabul."

"Nonsense, my hut has the finest Persian powder."

Almost nothing. Lots of poppies, and lots of minerals waiting to be mined.

In fact, Afghanistan may be sitting on an estimated trillion dollars of mineral deposits.

If I were a grunt stationed there, I’d be at the local bazaars buying tourmaline and mailing it home. Well-cut tourmaline starts at about $100 per carat and can retail for as much as $30,000 per carat.
