The gunman slain by police after he killed his English professor and eight others at an Oregon college was once turned away from a firearms academy by an instructor who recalled finding him "weird" and "a little bit too anxious" for high-level weapons training.
Christopher Harper-Mercer, 26, who moved to Oregon from the Los Angeles suburb of Torrance, California, was officially identified on Friday as the assailant in the rampage at Umpqua Community College in Roseburg, which ranks as the deadliest among dozens of U.S. mass shootings in the past two years.
According to accounts of survivors, the gunman stormed into the classroom of his introductory writing class to shoot the professor at point-blank range, then began picking off other victims one at a time as he questioned each about their religion and whether they were Christians.

He’s “biracial”...a black mother and white (British) father. This makes some of the claims that he was a white supremacist pretty ridiculous.
I think people of mixed race often have behavioral issues. Just been my observations, not based on any documented studies.

The other 290 were probably all in Chicago...four or more people get shot there several times a week.
They’ve redefined mass-shooting to pump up the numbers.
This is a challenging topic, but I’m not ready to deputize gun instructors as 2nd Amendment sheriffs.
True. None of we Trump crazies would qualify OTOH we have a local gentleman that occasionally gets off his meds or his medicine needs adjusted Everyone looks out for him. He’s quite well liked and helps elderly with their yards. When he is having issues the local police make sure with help of family and legal officials that he gets into hospital and gets the medication regulated. It’s care as it should be. But we are a small town

For example, on Jan 23, 2015, an unknown person shot and wounded 6 people in Boston.

Right there are two “mass shootings” counted toward the total.
