How does something like this happen?!

Oh please. That’s easy. It’s called spoofing. You see, the USA and the UK just criticized the Russians for “using dumb bombs” that caused civilian casualties in Syria...

So the Russians spoofed our GPS system (or local lazed system) so that our bombs aimed at the Taliban hit...you guessed it...civilians in Afghanistan.

A medical facility staffed by Frenchmen.

Spy games.

I believe it happens because the current admin is on the other side.

I think the US said there were 16 Taliban in the hospital, and that is why it was targeted.

Most likely ISIS used gear provided to "freedom fighters" or the Iraqi Army re-target the strike.

The fact that ISIS captured such gear has been published even if it was buried well off the front page. Both the Iraqi Army which abandoned or lost a ton of equipment as well as for the "good freedom fighters" not long before those "good freedom fighters" switched sides and joined with ISIS. There's no doubt ISIS has required equipment and expertise to divert an incoming weapon.

The Russians want ISIS dead and gone, not NATO/US forces becoming even less effective at hitting ISIS.

Everyone not drinking the Kool Aid can see that the US and NATO backing Muzzie scum all over the ME has disastrous results. No one needs to frame them for anything. They've done more than enough to make themselves look bad already.

Unfortunately people in this country have become so used to childish narcissists running the country that they believe any and all propaganda and fall in line blaming anyone but the Kiddies in charge when something goes wrong. Some folks have their heads so far up their exhaust port they even jump to conclusions like blaming the Russians for this sort of mistake even though the exact same sort of thing has happened in every conflict NATO/US forces have been involved in since Kosovo.

Any of this sort of mistake that happens isn't "spoofing", it's the usual blow-back from insane operations that support murderous Muzzie scum to further the economic ends of turds that support the likes of King Barry.

That’s quite a theory to say the least. Smart bombs are a little smarter than that if that’s what was used which no one knows at this point and to assume Russians are on the ground and can spoof GPS and redirect to civilian target is way the “f” off along with knowing the laser code of the weapon used to redirect if it was a laze type weapon.

Spoofing is not so easily done with our weapons. The Russians have a total of two systems basically in the EMD phase capable of doing so and none are reported in theater. These are just too valuable to them.

No, this facility was targeted, the real question is why.

Our ROE are very strict, something caused the FAC to think this was a legitimate target.

I am in no way a Russian apologist but do respect their Electronic Warfare capability.

I imagine US military relies on encrypted positioning. And if the Russians were capable of hacking the system, I’m guessing the DWOB event wasn’t the best use of that capability.
