Education Secretary Arne Duncan—an advocate for reform and, at times, a target for criticism from the left and the right—will be stepping down from his post in December.
Duncan is one of just two remaining Cabinet secretaries who have served in the administration since the beginning of President Barack Obama’s first term. The other is Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack.
Obama lauded Duncan’s efforts at education reform saying “America’s going to be better off for what he has done.”
During his tenure, Duncan occasionally drew the ire of liberals and conservatives for such as initiatives the Race to the Top competitive grant program for states, support of charter schools and the Common Core set of education standards in math and language arts for students in kindergarten through 12th grades. Duncan was largely able to avoid getting mired in congressional politics even as he pushed to increase access to preschool for low-income children, worked to make college more affordable and focused on holding teachers accountable for student progress. …

Arn Duncan, Sept. of Schools for Chicago oversaw one of the worst school systems in America, and who has overseen the decline in American education with his worthless Dept. of Education since- true to form. Obama has appointed and the Senate endorsed the most inept administration in history.
The utopian dream has become a nightmare abandon ship!
Regarding Education Secretary Arne Duncan stepping down, note that the states have never delegated to the feds, expressly via the Constitution, the specific power to regulate, tax and spend for INTRAstate schooling purposes. So the corrupt, post-17th Amendment Senate should not have helped to pass the unconstitutional bill that helped to create the current Department of Education.
The ill-conceived 17th Amendment needs to disappear, and corrupt senators who wrongly help to establish unconstitutional Cabinet departments as well.
Duncan grew up in the Chicago neighborhood of Hyde Park.
That’s Obama and Bill Ayers’ neighborhood.

U.S. Education Secretary Arne Duncan told a group of state schools superintendents Friday that he found it “fascinating” that some of the opposition to the Common Core State Standards has come from “white suburban moms who — all of a sudden — their child isn’t as brilliant as they thought they were, and their school isn’t quite as good as they thought they were.”
Yes, he really said that. But he has said similar things before. What, exactly, is he talking about?
In his cheerleading for the controversial Common Core State Standards — which were approved by 45 states and the District of Columbia and are now being implemented across the country (though some states are reconsidering) — Duncan has repeatedly noted that the standards and the standardized testing that goes along with them are more difficult than students in most states have confronted.

It’s more likely, and most definitely true, that white suburban moms and dads are furious that common core hinders the brilliance, and even the basic education of their kids, in order to bring the best and brightest down the the level of the lowest common denominator (so to speak). Common Core does nothing good for the average and advanced kids but, really helps the below average and special ed kids.
The Standardized Testing isn’t more difficult at all. The program that the Standardized Testing now implements is horrific for average and above average students. It only benefits below average and special education students.

Obama appointed Duncan due to his alleged success as CEO of Chicago’s public schools. However, in 2007, only 10% of black 4thgraders in Chicago reached the proficiency level in reading and only 9% of black 8th graders reached reading proficiency. In math, only 8% of black students reached proficiency in 4th grade and just 6% reached proficiency in 8th grade.
This was the disappointing outcome, despite spending $13-$14,000 per student and is among the highest of any major city.Even worse, a majority of Chicago public school students drop out or fail to graduate with their class.
Needless to say, the Duncan era was a disaster. He did, however, pursue an aggressive agenda to promote the homosexual lifestyle in the schools.
So Chicago kids can’t read or write, but they all know how to engage in homosexual sex.
Good riddance to the Commie Czar of “Commie Core”. He’s done enough to wreck our already badly damaged educational system. Now he’s going back to finish off Chicago’s educational system (he’ll get a consulting job there).
