You are right, Ebay takes down copyrighted stuff. I’ve seen it happen.
Craigslist also takes down racist ads in jobs and roommates.

They also take down stuff people claim as copyright; one of the most infamous things on eBay was Garth Brook's agency used to issue takedown notices for every used CD of his, claiming he owned the copyright to the work and therefore could prevent it from being listed on eBay.
