RANDLEMAN, N.C. -- A man originally from Randleman was shot and injured in the Oregon community college shooting Thursday that resulted in 10 fatalities.
Seven other people were injured when a gunman -- identified as Chris Harper Mercer-- opened fire at Oregon's Umpqua Community College in Roseburg.
Chris Mintz graduated from Randleman High School in 2003 and had been in Oregon for at least 10 years, according to family members.
Mintz spent most of Thursday in surgery after receiving seven gunshots during the attack. Family members said Mintz was able to talk to loved ones before going into surgery. He told them that he heard gunshots in another classroom and tried to keep the gunman from entering his classroom.

Had the college been an open carry campus this killing spree could have been averted.

And with having only one unarmed campus guard, may this college be buried in liability lawsuits by the families of those murdered or wounded in this antiChhristian hate crime. It needs to serve as an example for similar liberal administrations of other schools.
If I did not carry, I would definitely feel where guns were allowed versus a gun free zone.

Concealed carry is allowed from what I understand.
I hope the **people** who were responsible for this gun free zone are sued into utter and complete ruin. It is the individual **people** who should carry the burden, not the taxpayers.

Concealed carry is allowed in the state, not on the campus. It is designated a gun free zone, except for killers, of course.

Well, the media is interrogating the culprit as we speak...
But one never hears of that happening in these events. Instead, they try to sue everyone who sold the shooter the guns and ammo
The real situation on the ground.
Young and old men in this situation will always try to attack the shooter. Give them a chance to survive the attack with ccw. Most of the men killed at Virginia Tech were attacking the shooter delayed his forward progress. This young man did the same: he delayed the shooter and gave people more time to get under cover.
Hats off to this man.
The school needs to be sued out of existence for failing to protect the students, as do all previous gun-free massacre sites.
In Kansas you can only designate a gun free zone if it has a security check point. So my church has one of those pictures of a gun with a line through it but anyone can carry. My courthouse however - you have to pass through a machine and there are at least four officers checking you out. So no guns or knives allowed. I had to show them a banana once and another time my rosary because the crucifix looked weird in the X-ray machine.
If it is a “Gun Free Zone” then why is it that the institution that deems it a “Gun Free Zone” required to have armed guards in the area to protect the people that enter it?
