WWIII is shaping up in Syria: ...likens alliance to 'apocalyptic visions of John the Revelator'

World War III is shaping up in Syria right now, thanks to Barack Obama.

According to Russian Sen. Igor Morozov, Beijing has agreed to dispatch naval forces, including an aircraft carrier, to Syria alongside a Russian military force that will join Hezbollah and Iranian army regulars in Syria, an immediate neighbor to the north of Israel, and Iraq to fight ISIS.

Now this is both good news and bad news:

Good news: Somebody’s got to fight ISIS. And it’s clearly not going to be the U.S. under Barack Obama. Somebody’s got to soundly defeat and destroy ISIS. And that’s clearly not going to be the U.S. while Obama’s around. Bad news: It’s going to be a coalition of Russia, Iran, China and Hezbollah in the Middle East – something that sounds vaguely out of the worst apocalyptic visions of John the Revelator.

Obama has left this vacuum wide open for two powerful, nuclear nations to bring the U.S. down – one or both of which was responsible for the greatest act of cyberwarfare in the history of the world against the U.S., hacking into government computers and getting data on every past and present federal employee, including spies and military personnel, just months ago.

China is sending an aircraft carrier – a provocative act that it hasn’t invoked against U.S. interests since the Vietnam War era.

But it gets worse.

What is the mission?

The mission of Russia and China is to ensure Bashar Assad’s regime is not overthrown by ISIS or any other “terrorists.” The mission of Iran and Hezbollah, on the other hand, is hegemony over much of the Middle East – from Persia to the Levant, as they say.

The present general understanding of Revelation is not quite 200 years old. In other words, for most of the history of Christianity, Revelation was generally considered to be dated in the past.

There won’t ever be a 200 million man army launched against the Middle East, for example.

Prophecy can be messy, and it is hard to know when one comes true until it actually comes true, but...

Today's headlines may be different. Not sure exactly what "turn you around" means (though I have some plausible theories) but the Lord putting hooks in their (Gog and Magog) jaws seems to imply drawing them with an irresistible opportunity. The chance to overshadow the United States in the Middle East and be the hero and destroy ISIS would seem to qualify.

Many commentators on Ezekiel 38-39 seem to have concluded that the invasion of Israel by this coalition of Gog, Magog, Togarmah, Gomer, Persian, Libya and Ethiopia is sudden and unexpected, but this is strange. You can't hide a modern army, air force and navy in these countries then launch a surprise attack. Too much distance not to be detected (unless all Israeli or American spy satellites have been disabled).

But if a large Russian (and allied) force in Syria is present for many years prior to such an attack, neighbors like Israel (and also the United States) will become used to it, and not be bothered by massive military exercises that take place periodically. Then one day...

Yes, I remember watching a year or two ago, via dvd, a presentation about my faith via weekly presentations, and during one dvd presentation the Dante trilogy of “The Divine Comedy” was touched upon and the person doing the naration said that the charctor saw the image of Mohammed with his whole chest split open.
