Russian strikes again expose US disarray

ew York (AFP) - Russia's dramatic entry Wednesday into the Syrian war put the United States on the back foot once again and left Washington struggling to regain the military and diplomatic initiative.

As US Secretary of State John Kerry was in New York trying to coordinate with his Kremlin opposite number Sergei Lavrov, a Russian officer contacted the US embassy in Baghdad.

His message was simple: Russian jets are about to launch air strikes in Syria, please stay out of their way.

Kerry quickly protested to Lavrov that this was not in the spirit of Moscow's promise to agree a "de-confliction" mechanism to ensure Russian flights do not interfere with US-led operations.

But the strikes were already underway, potentially altering the balance of power in Syria back in favor of Bashar al-Assad's regime, and Washington was looking at a fait accompli.

Did the MSM/DC complain about Putin’s tone?

Somebody has finally stood up to The Lightbringer - Congress? The Supreme Court? The States? - no, a Russian strongman . . .

Didn't see that coming . . . /s

When you follow the Obama doctrine and “lead from behind”, you eat other people’s dust. Face it. It didn’t take long for Putin to fundamentally change the equation in Syria. Kerry and Obama are slipping and sliding over their pile of red crayons.

If you want Trump, he said status quo. "Let the Russians take care of the situation."

Putin, translated, said "can't you see what you have done?" Yes some of us see clearly what our feckless leaders have done. But there were good old hawk McCain and our local talk show host telling us what a bad guy Putin is. He is a dictator and gets his majority because the people are afraid to oppose him. He will be there until he's assassinated or dies of old age. Supposedly.

I don't think much of Putin and his antics, divorcing his wife, just a bad example. Then the Orthodox church should stay out of it. It sends a bad message, shades of the middle ages in the West.

So I suppose I'm supposed to hate the Russians again. Well I don't exactly. If it were my call knowing what I know now, and I didn't like the way we brashly wanted to take out leaders in the ME.

They follow the same script. Demonize. Get the people upset by chlorine bombs so we won't resist. Before Syrian was taken up in the Arab Spring, I don't know of any significant number of "refugees" eager to leave Syria.

Sometimes when it comes to dictators, the devil you know might be better than the mob you don't.

...and now the Russians are in the middle east they'll be "sticking around". Kind of like we are still hanging around in Germany and Japan.

Before Obama was elected, I never understood how some of the battles would happen that were talked about in Ezekiel 38-39. Under Reagan or even Bush who were friends to Israel Russia wouldn't have even considered it.

"Let the Russians take care of the situation."

It's not like the US and the West have any moral basis to oppose Putin in propping up the Assad dictatorship.

Or, killing Jihadis, whether they're with ISIS or not.

If one boils down to the essence of Real Politik, Russia is actually doing something to implement an outcome (in the short term, at least)that is in the best interests of the US, the West and Israel.

It will be years before we know that full price of that assist.

Israel doesn't seem worried in the least. Not a squeak.

Which is good...

Let the Russians have at ISIS, Putin loves to kick a$$ and take names...

Keeps our bacon out of the fire and no “excuses” about no fly zones...

I call them Fly paper as in the theater of action look at the path from Israel to Iran, and the other way as well...

Putin has stalemated the US and has a lot of cards in the region

If the Israelis need to attack Iran (counter most likely) if the US were to try to stop them I feel the US Military would refuse, maybe en masse

Someone needs to look into a “vote of confidence” or other Parliamentary method to yank him in this case

Or save time, Impeach

I don’t have a problem with Trump saying let the Russians take care of it. Should Trump have said let Obama take care of it?

If the brainless, spineless, and testicle devoid clowns in the republican RHINO party had a measure of fortitude, an infinitesimal measure, we would not be in this place in time. The feckless one continues his “transformation” of America=you all lose, and I will make sure of it. FUBOBATHYRIO!

Syria has been in the Russian orbit forever. The Russians know all the players from way back. This is their bailywick, not ours. Without having to deal with mewling Occupy types and stifling political correctness, they will get the situation stabilized in record time.

This is why the Obamunists are panicking:

“Sergey Bobkov

#Syrian army fully capitalized on #Russian air support & took control of 3 settlements North of #Homs. 110 rebels KIA, including 3 leaders.”

The Russians are going after the the Muzzies in the Christian areas closest to their bases, first.
