Romney ticks off viable GOP candidates; excludes Trump, doesn’t mention Carson

Former GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney listed a half-dozen Republican candidates he said could qualify as mainstream conservatives his party could live with in a general election — and said he didn’t think Donald J. Trump was one of those.

Mr. Romney, a two-time candidate who was the party’s standard-bearer in 2012, ticked off New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie, Ohio Gov. John Kasich, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida, Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina and businesswoman Carly Fiorina as viable options.

-snip-

Mr. Romney did not mention retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson, who along with Mr. Trump and Ms. Fiorina has captured an anti-establishment sentiment within the GOP primary electorate.

How is it that Willard Mittens Romney believes anything he says matters to ANYONE anymore? (You lost by 5 Million Votes and 126 ELECTORAL VOTES in 2012 Mittens! LOL Get over yourself) Talk about a true GOPe person. The fact that he couldn’t bring himself to say Ted Cruz’ name but did mention Lindsay Graham, shows just how far out of touch he is with reality.

Romney lost his mind. All those selected are total losers except Cruz. We will lose America unless Trump is elected. Trump has not been wrong yet and has offered to act quickly. The rest of the candidates will sit on their thumbs and ponder how to do it, Trump will just do it. We have no time left to talk, talk, talk.

The only one of those I would enthusiastically support in the general would be Rubio.

Kind of ironic, given that Trump is, in many ways, the coming of Romney 2.0.

Mittens makes it easy to sort out the pack. Just pull for the ones he DIDN’T mention as viable candidates.

Romney ticks off viable GOP candidates;

Well, why not? He's already ticked off the voters.

You know, we've been hearing for so long that Republicans pick the one "next in line"; that's how we got Reagan, Bush the Elder, Dole, McCain and Romney, with Bush the Younger getting in under the Alumnus parent exception.

Based on that, Huckabee or Santorum should at least be given a modicum of respect from Establishment Poobahs like Romney. They were first-runners up in the last two rounds.

Even if they want to push Bush under the alumnus parent exception, Fiorina and Christie should not be mentioned ahead of Huckabee or Santorum.

And you would never, ever go wrong doing it. It’s exactly the same thing with any liberal. Do the polar opposite of an idiot and you get to the best possible choice/solution for a given situation.

Every time. No exceptions.
