I have to wonder just what has really been happening up to today?
Syria isn’t anything to us, and removing Assad would crumble Syria, what obuma, shillary and ilk were trying to do while in Benghazi...
So Russia goes in, topples Syria, who do they put in his place or does Russia gain that country also?

Russia is defending Syria, not toppling it.
Preserving Assad places him in debt to Putin, leading to a solid Russian presence in the region.
As for the confusion over whether Russian jets are bombing ISIS or “moderate rebels”, those in the sociopolitical middle are generally hostile to Assad and first-world sensibilities, and Putin et al are fond of using terms very loosely when explaining actions. Opposing ISIS doesn’t necessarily mean “on our side”; the enemy of my enemy may be my enemy as well.
