Gowdy’s office denies retirement
The Hill ^ | 09/30/2015 | Scott Wong

Rep. Trey Gowdy's office said he's not leaving Congress next year, despite comments at a closed-door conference meeting on Tuesday that left many colleagues with the impression he was calling it quits.

The South Carolina Republican stood up in the room and gave an emotional speech, telling his colleagues he loved them all but that he would not be a candidate for leadership. Instead, Gowdy said he's staying focused on leading the committee investigating the 2012 terrorist attack in Benghazi, Libya.

Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, the Democratic presidential front-runner, testifies before his panel next month.

“When I’m done with that, I’m going to return to South Carolina where my heart is,” Gowdy told his colleagues, according to a source in the room.

Many GOP lawmakers poured out of the Capitol meeting room, believing that Gowdy had just announced his retirement from Congress. In fact, Rep. John Fleming (R-La.) said on C-SPAN Wednesday morning that Gowdy told members he planned to retire.

“Trey wants to go back to South Carolina, and God bless him for that,” Fleming said on the program.

But others, including Rep. Roger Williams (R-Texas), who was sitting in the first row at the meeting, said he did not interpret Gowdy's remarks as a farewell speech.

Asked if Gowdy was retiring from Congress, his spokeswoman Amanda Duvall, said: “No, he is not announcing anything regarding 2016.”

“Wishful thinking on the part of the left.”

Well, maybe, but his Republican colleague shouldn’t have been announcing it on CSPAN this morning.

“Gowdy said he’s staying focused on leading the committee investigating the 2012 terrorist attack in Benghazi, Libya.”

Then, get it done, Mr. Gowdy!

Trey Gowdy is very clearly not retiring anytime soon.
He will be too busy as AG in the Trump / Cruz administration.
Liberals are going to love him in that new future role!

That is some heavy thinking there. Of course Gowdy should personally put handcuffs on Hillary and put her in prison. Except the constitution gives that authority to Obama and the executive branch. Jeez........

Fine. Support your homeboy. Bottom line is that his Benghazi investigation has resulted in a big fat nothing.

Hillary’s private email server was discovered by Gowdy. I don’t think that is nothing. It may prevent her from someday running the country. That is a major achievement.

That is most likely. It is probably incomprehensible the lengths the Democratic go to in order to get dirt on someone.

He needs to stay where he is until a Republican President can put him in charge of the DOJ or appoint him to the Supreme Court.

That he is! He is determined to do the best job possible in his investigation. As hard as Hillary and others have worked to delay or block his getting the documents he needs, he will prevail.
There are people being interrogated today, yesterday, and tomorrow. We just don’t always hear of it. He spoke the other night about who is currently being questioned.

He questions Hillary on October 22 and is concerned about getting all the documents he needs beforehand.

I hope he has enough to expose the truth about Benghazi and the failure to protect our Ambassador. Whoever is responsible needs to be accountable for these preventable deaths.
