Rep. John Fleming, R-La., said Wednesday morning that Tea Party favorite Rep. Trey Gowdy, R-S.C., won't run for a fourth term, and instead plans to retire at the end of the current Congress to return to his home state.
"Trey wants to go back to South Carolina, and God bless him for that," Fleming said on C-SPAN. When asked if that's what Gowdy has told other Republicans, Fleming confirmed it.
"At the end of his term, yes," he said. "He plans to go back home, and he wants to finish his work on the Benghazi special committee. But he loves South Carolina and he loves his family, and he wants to go back and spend the rest of his life there."
"He'll be sorely missed," he added.

I wonder if Gowdy knows he’s retiring...
This guy is actually doing it and people think it's due to nefarious dealings. I applaud him. He can do honest work and make more money doing it as a private citizen.
Tuesday on The Mike Gallagher Show, House Select Benghazi Committee chairman Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-SC)
said he was dead wrong to think Secretary of State John Kerry would care enough about his own reputation to protect his predecessor Hillary Clinton by having the State Department stonewall on producing documents for Gowdys committee.
When asked if he would have done anything differently during his committees investigation Gowdy said, I would have been less naive it took me a little while longer that it should have to figure out the State Department had no interest whatsoever in producing documents to me.
He added, I guess I just assumed that Secretary Kerry would care enough about his reputation that he wouldnt waste his capitol protecting his predecessor. But I have been dead wrong. We are having a very difficult time getting documents from the State Department and frankly their defense of her has been staggering.
You should read FreeRepublic, Trey.
People have been pushing for Gowdy as Majority Leader. This may be his way of removing himself from consideration.
