This son of a bitch still has fifteen months in which he can get us into war

Not to mention four-hundred-four-days to bring us to defeat in another war, which seems his real pleasure and specialty.

That's not even counting the uncontested surrender of Guantanamo, which seems more and more likely.

We have Americans in harm’s way, but why? Can anyone give a succinct statement of America’s strategy or even interests at that point? Obama has left us here, but there is no “Obama Doctrine,” no purpose other than demoralization.

It is in our national interest to destroy ISIS, which is spreading throughout North Africa, the Arabian peninsula, Afghanistan, Pakistan, etc. ISIS planning ‘nuclear tsunami’

I never did see any legal justification for the US trying to overthrow the Assad government via the FSA. Was there a UN resolution to that effect?

So, instead of Assad having to continue killing his own people and dropping chemical bombs on them, he asks Putin to come in and bomb them.

We are being destroyed by the welfare state (Guns vs Butter and butter always wins) and mass (lgal) immigration.

Exactly - even without over-extension (which you refute) - the internal mechanics are sufficient for the game to be over.

Since I'm not one to cry over the past, I've already (mentally) moved on. But I do find it interesting that many don't seem to be that curious about how we reached our current state of affairs.

There is a possible hail-mary, but that would first require people to finally recognize the enemy, and then elect someone with enough electoral support who could/would prosecute to the fullest extent of the law (and I mean "fullest" in the sense that a penalty is actually spelled out in the constitution).

Do you think that will happen? Would someone finally reject the authority the court assumed (but never included by amendment) by Marshall and never challenged? That's the kind of extreme action required - to have Congress be the final arbiter of what is constitutional eg the 14th. Unless that kind of emergency action happens, then my money is on the downside.

Do you know why? Look at Obama’s earliest speech to the UN for clues. In his worldview, evil exists because America is too strong in comparison with the rest of the world.

7:05 p.m.

The U.S. conducted airstrikes in Syria as planned Wednesday including one near Aleppo, which is in the northwest but not near where the Russians were flying, a U.S. official said.

The official said the Russian officer who notified the U.S. of the strikes said the U.S. should stay out of Syrian airspace and remove any troops it has on the ground working with rebels in Syria.

The U.S. has repeatedly said it has no U.S. military forces on the ground in Syria.

The official was not authorized to discuss the missions publicly so spoke on condition of anonymity.

As said...the propaganda is in swing now to protect all parties from looking like they’re supporting Russia......and as usual Putin has to hear the nonsense .....and the media will get their pundits front and center to carry the message.

MAke no mistake....Russia is indeed blasting ISIS and other terroists group.....

What I cannot understand is why Putin is taking this action when it so closely parallels US and Israeli interests.

This doesn't parallel US interests at all (at least not Obama's interests). Obama wants to remove secular leaders throughout the region and install a radical Muslim caliphate. That's why he tried to get the Muslim Brotherhood firmly in place in Egypt, that's why he took our Gaddafi in Libya and that's why he's supporting radicals against Assad.

We are not attacking Assad now with our air strikes. They are being conducted against ISIS in Syria and Iraq. Russia conducted airstrikes today in Syria against non-ISIS enemies of Assad.

This would be a really great Tom Clancy novel...if it weren’t real!!!

:-)

I think Iron Maiden addresses this situation on its’ new album...the song The Red and Black comes to mind.

"The U.S. has repeatedly said it has no U.S. military forces on the ground in Syria."

Well, except for the several hundred Special Operators and CIA agents. Of course, they are there unbeknownst to the US Public and are there against US Laws.

This is what has Kerry and Obama so upset.

They are not willing to abandon the US presence and withdraw our secret forces that are assisting the assaults on Assad.
