“Why hasn’t Ted by now built a strong coalition of Lee, Cotton, Ernst, Sessions, Paul, and several other conservatives? I see it as a significant fault. “

Are you blind and dumb? “Conservatives?” They are career politicians with no interest other than enriching themselves while in office. Cruz is a PATRIOT and “spills his blood...so to speak” to be a “lightning rod” for what is left of any patriots left in America. I do give credence to Lee however. The others are simply career politicians who will do anything to stay in office...and that means they follow the party leadership without question. Cruz won’t!

Shame on you Rand Paul for advocating “decorum” over attempts to stop the dismemberment, murder, and selling of body parts of innocent babies.

We don’t need to be polite to these serial killers.

So being a "patriot" prevents him from leading? Someone should have told Washington.

And, BTW, Sessions isn't a "patriot?" And Cruz isn't a "career politician?" Excuse me, what has he done other than politics in his life? I'm NOT belittling that like you are, BTW.

“So being a “patriot” prevents him from leading?”

What did you have for breakfast? It sure as heck was not carrots because you were unable to read the post correctly.

Where did I say “being a patriot PREVENTS him from leading?”

You said, "Cruz is a PATRIOT." I agreed. Why does that mean he can't lead and develop a coalition of followers in the senate? You didn't answer my question: is Sessions not a patriot? Lee? Ernst? Cotton?

The question you should be asking is why, if there are so many like-minded people in the Senate, has Cruz apparently alienated so many, even to the point of getting Rand Paul (whom I'm not fond of but who could be an ally) to be his enemy?

It doesn't concern you at all that a man who wants to be the nation's leader has been unable to get more than one senator to follow him on anything?

“Rand Paul is a sniveling little punk. The kid who would tell the teacher who was running with scissors.”

That’s one of the most accurate descriptions of him I have read. We all knew, and loathed, kids like him in school.

” ... Cruz apparently alienated so many, even to the point of getting Rand Paul (whom I’m not fond of but who could be an ally) to be his enemy.”

Sure; Paul would be a natural ally of Cruz’s, except on some minor issues like abortion, immigration, national defense, ... Paul is a libertarian at his core, and his stated positions on these and other matters have “evolved” only because of his cynical (and failed) attempt to attract mainstream conservatives during his campaign for the Republican nomination.

So you attract him on issues you can—eliminating Export/Import.

I think allying with Rand Paul is a fools errand. He is a pointless, inconsequential, mouthpiece. He and his goofy brand of “libertarianism” offer nothing to want to be associated with.

“I see it as a significant fault.”

You’re probably right, but like Trump, I’m not going to criticize Cruz for his poor candidacy. Cruz is one of the very few politicians that isn’t totally sold out to the oligarchs.

Yeah. At one time, about a year ago, I thought he would be a very strong candidate among da yuts-—but he quickly got off his snooping bans.

You wrote “It doesn’t concern you at all that a man who wants to be the nation’s leader has been unable to get more than one senator to follow him on anything?”

What that means is that only one senator is not totally corrupted and will follow him.

The other senators range from: kind of corrupted to more corrupted to really corrupted to “Whoa Nellie!” The Senate is a den of snakes and has a Republican majority that has voted almost all legislation the house passed.

Gee! I wonder how that happened?

"If he sees Cruz as the enemy, he clearly is in the wrong camp."

That sums it up.

Well, no, it doesn't mean that. I don't think Jeff Sessions or Tim Scott are "corrupted." What it means is that Ted hasn't been able to get anyone to follow. Leading CAN mean taking a principled stand that you know will lose. But it sure better be more than that, because you only get one of those. And very, very few people---principled or otherwise---will sign on to such a thing unless there is a pretty good plan to WIN when you come out on the other side.

The guys at the Alamo didn't just commit suicide. They were convinced that IF they fought and died, Houston would have time to train the army and defeat Santa Anna. Either way, Travis wasn't alone. He got 120+ other guys to stay there with him.

“What it means is that Ted hasn’t been able to get anyone to follow.”

The only way to tell anyone what they want to hear in order to follow you is to tell them exactly what they want to hear regardless as to whether it is true or not...and Cruz is speaking language they don’t want to hear because he is speaking the TRUTH!.

The old saying “when you shine a light on roaches they all run to the dark places.” Well, Cruz just “just shined the light” on the RINOs.

I’ve been around for a long time and have worked at corporate levels and also at GS-11 levels for the government and since I read and knew the regulations very well I would “hold their noses to the stone” and force them to abide by the rules and regulations. With that in mind I heard the following phrases many times: “he doesn’t row the boat with the rest of us.” “He is a loose cannon.” “He’s not a team player.” And...a host of other sayings that meant that I would not deviate from the rules and regulations to accommodate them. I wasn’t born yesterday and I sure as hell know corruption when I see it.

Ted Cruz is entering the same “flack” simply because he is shining the light of truth upon the roaches you call good and honorable Senators...and believe me...there is no honor among them for they have sold the citizens of the United States “down the river” in order to enrich themselves in both money and stature.

Why won’t they folly Cruz? Simple...because they have been told not to. Nothing more, nothing less.

I’m looking forward to the day when all those Senators who supposedly detest Cruz look up to him as he enters the room and say, “Good Morning, Mr. President.”
