Possible closures?

I-25, I-80. I-70 ... but, but that would mean no access to or through Colorado!

To bad, get over it, you are not a political elite - move along, peasant, before we unleash the dogs.

I-80 doesn't go through CO at all, but it's good that you brought that up. It only goes through Wyoming. But it is a much better route than I-70, because I-70 is often closed, diverting drivers and revenues to minor roads to the south for many extra hours or days (roads that also often close without notice).

And vacationers, other highways in CO are also often closed for many hours without any necessity for doing so (no actual work on the roads but only heavy equipment crossing or other excuses). Avoid trying unpaved routes to get around highway closures.

Many of those routes are extremely dangerous, most often much longer than expected. And no one will care, if you die in an isolated area without a cell phone signal. Highways are sometimes closed for something as frivolous as a very small diesel fuel spill on private property near a highway from a semi tractor fuel tank leak. The more death and destruction from road closures, the more glory and revenues for the wealthy emergency-rescue regime.

Anyone game for an unplanned detour to an eight-foot-wide shelf road for miles with a drop of thousands of feet next to it? And don't forget, bears and cougars love stranded, weakened tourists.
