Only Proves with the right sort of leadership North Korea could be a good state. Dump the Murdering Stalinist Thugs and it might be a good place to live. Some tourists could really bring in some needed cash. Did you know that in North Korea is a Great wall? Built to keep out Bandits and Chinese in Ancient times—Might make a good tourist attraction?

The Lives of Others Thanks for the ping.
The old feudal barons learned from generations of experience that benevolent despotism not only worked — it was necessary to prevent peasant revolts. The early capitalists may have been “robber barons,” but they provided real-life examples to poor people that with hard work they could rise above their “station in life.”
In other words, old-style elites were consistent with their declared principles.
The new elites of Communism, socialism and liberalism are hypocrites. They claim to be “for the poor” while actually living a life of luxury.
The masses will generally, if grudgingly, respect leaders who live in accord with their principles. Communists, socialists and liberals can rule only by confusing their people or forcing them into submission with the power of a gun. The reality of living a life of luxury while claiming to be “for the poor” cannot be defended to people once they understand the facts.
That is why I am advocating for settling incoming Syrian refugees right next to affluent enclaves inhabited by liberal elites. I hear there are very nice neighborhoods in Connecticut and D.C. suburbs. Refugees should settle there. Not in working class neighborhoods. They should practice their “Act of Love.”
