“Das Leben der Anderen”, (”The Lives of Others”) by Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck, is an exceptionally brilliant film.

Absolute masterpiece. Stunning acting from Sebastian Koch and Martina Gedeck.

Martina Gedeck, also wonderful in “Der Baader Meinhof Komplex” (”The Baader Meinhof Complex”).

Do you like German and Austrian cinema?

I recommend “Paradies: Glaube” (”Paradise: Faith”) by Ulrich Seidl, a jaw-dropping performance by a wonderful Austrian actress named Maria Hofstätter....obviously it’s an Austrian film.

There is a light-hearted German movie (not a phrase you hear often) from the early 2000s called “Mostly Martha”. We just watched it last week and really enjoyed it!
