That NBC poll may be an outlier, but so is this one.

Say what you want, but the trend is clear. Trump hasn’t increased his support, and in most polls has lost support. I happen to think it’s because Trump has intense support but a limited ceiling. You can feel free to disagree.

McCain won the nomination in 2008 with 33% of the vote. If Trump can hold on to a floor of 25%, he will be difficult to beat in a large field. He would have a distinct advantage in winner-take-all primaries.

Can Rubio, Carson, Fiorina, or Bush get as high as 20% let alone 25%?

Don’t disagree with you at all. There has been a decline in Trump’s support, but there has likewise not been a surge for anyone else. Carly is dropping slowly as well and Carson is treading water and down slightly. RCP is irritating because they will include a BS poll from NBC which samples 230
republicans or the Bloomberg poll with 391, but ignore something like Zogy or Morning Consult which have higher sample sizes.

Lets look at the latest state polls. And they mean more than silly that CoC WSJ/NBC poll.

New Hampshire for instance. What do we have here? ...Oh yes Trump has expanded his lead in an early primary state:

- - - - -
“Donald Trump holds a 10-point lead over Carly Fiorina in the latest CNN/WMUR poll.

The new poll finds Trump receiving 26 percent support from New Hampshire’s likely Republican presidential primary voters. Another 8 percent pick the outspoken billionaire as their second choice.

Those results are up from a similar CNN/WMUR sampling in July, when Trump received 23 percent support from the same demographic. ...

Carson receives 8 percent support while Bush and Kasich tie at 7 percent.”

And looky Dr. Ben faded to only 8%.

Trump has/is polling consistently between 25%-35%. Those that say he is down 7 from his high in the Morning Consult are ignoring that is up 6 from his low; therefore he is consistent. He’s polling double digits more than the competition. Any, and I mean any, of the other candidates would LOVE to have half the difference added to their #s. (Ask Rick Perry or Scott Walker. Heck, ask Jeb Bush!) Even with the supposed surges Carson, Fiorina and Rubio had, or is having (Wasn’t Carson in a statistical dead heat?) nobody else is even close...100+ days after he announced.

That may be true but we may not see yet where that ceiling is. Trump screwed up in the last debate acquiescing to being p*ssy-whipped by Fiorina and missed his chance to blast the politically-correct women's double-standard B.S. like he did in the first debate with Kelly. If he had done that, I think his numbers would have gone up more.

I look for him to return to that form in the next exchange with Fiorina. I hope so at least.

Trump should show more support after this announcement. Not sure where that ceiling is.

Also, there's no one else out there.

I personally like Carson, but he is NOT presidential material IMO, especially now when a strong, determined, and aggressive leader is needed to turn this ship of state around. Carson is too laid back and doesn’t have the moxie, IMO, to stand toe to toe with the Ruskies, the Muslims, the Chinese or the Left. I think Carson is a shooting star.

Forget about Fiorina. She's a also a shooting star with a lousy record and should go bye-bye soon.

For some reason, Cruz doesn't get the numbers. I really like Cruz and hope Trump, if elected, makes him VP.

Go Trump.

By contrast, the other two Republicans atop the GOP field – Trump and Bush – are seen unfavorably by more than half of registered voters. Fifty-three percent see Trump unfavorably, while 51 percent say the same of Bush.

That's where Trump's ceiling is coming from. I thought he had turned around his favorable ratings as of a month ago, but I wonder if they've dipped back down again. I want to find a poll that's tracking that.
