Up to 200,000 people will be attending a climate change rally on the National Mall on the same day that the Pope will be speaking to Congress. Wow! Such was the bold prediction reported by Washington Post reporters Juliet Eilperin and Michelle Boorstein on August 25. So what happened when Pope Francis did arrive at the Capitol last Thursday? Before we get to that sad reality, let us join Eilperin and Boorstein joyously prognosticating yuuuuuge numbers back in August:
Several environmental groups are planning a major climate rally that will draw hundreds of thousands to the National Mall on Sept. 24, the day Pope Francis speaks to Congress and is expected to address the public afterwards.

“Washington Post hopes you don’t notice how wrong their Climate Change rally forecast was.”
Their forecasts of attendance at their rallies are about as accurate as their forecasts of global temperature.
Imagine that The Washinton Post was expecting 200 thousand suckers to attend a global Warming/Climate Change.
It looks like there are either fewer suckers out there or there are more pressing problems that need to be solved.
The Washington Post is in luck... liberals won’t notice because they’ve been trained to be stupid useful idiots...
“Up to” 200,000 people is a pretty wide target to hit, LOL
Looks like the planners weren’t even able to gather all of their families!!BHAAA!!BHAAA!!BHAAA!!BHAAA!!BHAAA!!
I hate articles that can never get to their point in the first paragraph.
Didn’t anyone take High School English Composition?
They should have said they expected up to a billion people.
An honest article would be titled, “Climate Rally Fizzled” with Eilperin and Boorstein explaining how they got it so wrong.
Do they even teach composition in English in high school anymore???
Sometimes people here talk about high school.civics, but they don’t teach civics in high school anymore. Not sure why it went away. Part of dumbing down of our next generation.
If a picture’s worth a thousand words, I’d say 120 true believers showed up for ‘the extravaganza’ with 30 MSM reporters (half from the Washington Post), and 70 lost Catholics looking for the Pope...
So what did they get, up to 200 people? Looks like less than that.
Diane Sawyer Claims Wall Street Protests Have Spread to More Than a Thousand Countries

So enthused about promoting the far-left protests, ABC anchor Diane Sawyer on Monday night’s World News championed the Occupy Wall Street movement by ludicrously claiming that as of tonight, it has spread to more than 250 American cities, more than a thousand countries — every continent but Antarctica.
"Up to 200,000 people"
“The hat makes my head hot which is really cooling it...just like the majority of the really truly real scientists say.”
Then he made the il cornito like kids do at concerts and said, “Settled science, dude! 98%...WOOOOOOOOOO!”
Shortly after the tinfoil hat man made his comments three men in dark suits took him aside to reeducate him on how to speak to the press.
“Um, like, I didn't mean three dozen people here making awareness...probably 300,000...or, like, maybe, 300 trillion, YEAH! As I look around me, I think it's more like 300 trillion, maybe even 400 trillion! If I could count that high I could give you a more accurate number. But since it's the hottest year ever, global warming makes it hard to think.”
He then wandered around in a circle like a dog as he looked for the perfect spot to sit on the ground like many of the people at the rally.
“I'm going to the ‘Ban Dihydrogen Monoxide’ rally right after this one.”
Are there even 200,000 people total that STILL believe the Climate Change Hoax?
Even the pope can’t make very many of even his most devout followers believe a lie like that. oh yes, they will cheer him when he makes his nonsensical feckless ramblings about global warming, but mainly, I think it’s just so they don’t hurt his feelings.
Global Warming on Free Republic here, here and here
That 200,000 figure was the number chosen by the organizers when they got their permit. From the article:
The permit for the gathering which will make the moral case for reducing greenhouse gas emissions linked to global warming is for 200,000 people. The Moral Action on Climate Network, along with the Earth Day Network, League of Conservation Voters, Sierra Club and other groups, have timed the rally on the Mall the same day of the popes speech.
Reminds me of the old Hollywood hype about a new epic: “Thousands of extras”. It turned out that Herman Thousands and his extended family of ten were in it.
