Putin to UN: let us help you crush ISIS

MARK FRANCHETTI, DAMIEN MCELROY

The Times

September 28, 201512:00AM

Vladimir Putin is to use his speech to the UN tonight — his first in a decade — to insert Russia into the Syrian conflict by offering Moscow’s firepower to break the stalemate in the West’s fight against Islamic State.

The Russian push comes as Iraq announced late last night it would begin sharing “security and intelligence” information with Russia, Syria and Iran in a bid to combat the terrorist group. The countries would “help and co-operate in collecting information about the terrorist Daesh group,” using the Arabic acronym for Islamic State.

Obama's speech at the UN made him look like the liberal fool he is. Obama complained about Putin's critique of his foreign policy failures rather than put forth any plan to fix the problems Obama caused in Libya, Syria, Iraq, Ukraine, etc.

Obama's speech was all about defending his image and ego and nothing about his polices.

If Putin wants to crush ISIS, he can. He doesn’t need or care about anyone’s permission. He may be unfondly remembering Afghanistan circa 1980, but he should shit or get off the pot.

Do it, or don’t. There is no try.

Putin made an excellent point on 60 MINUTES: We are kicking out these middle east leaders to replace them with what?

Backing ISIS is insane and that’s exactly what we are doing in Syria. Now we are taking care of the economic refugees from the region? Even more insane.

Putin is walking all over Obama. Our power keeps decreasing with Bathouse Barry in office. God knows what damage he can do in the last year or so of his administration.

Why, liberals like Obama. We know they are all over the middle east, right? Obama is going to wish super hard to make them appear like magical rainbow colored unicorns.

These are the exact words that moron Obama stated in how he hopes to defeat ISIS and have nations like Syria emerge as stable countries:

"I profoundly believe many of the conflicts, the refugee crises, the military interventions over the years, may have been avoided if nations had truly invested in the lives of their people, and if the wealthiest nations on earth were better partners in working with those trying to lift themselves up," he said during remarks on global development.

I am more afraid than ever before this moron Obama will be the death of us all.

Putin, for now, does need ground troops. He needs only supply air-power and advisors and weapons. Putin is too smart to get dragged into another Afghanistan. Hezbollah and Iran will provide the muscle. The downfall of Assad would be a huge hit to both of them.

I read somewhere that Hezbollah has already had >10% of its fighters killed in Syria.

Moreover, Putin will claim the moral high ground - battling ISIS that Obama can’t/won’t defeat, helping refugees.

Putin wins if Assad stays or if Syria collapses into mini-states. Why? Because he has bases already on Syria's only coast and is protecting the Alawite and Christian territories leaving the Sunni Arabs behind. Kurds maybe on Putin's side also. The Kurdish militias are old allies from the Soviet Union era.

The Sunni areas are left to the ISIS scum and to America to deal with if Syria collapses like that.

Yeah, we are seeing a new Middle East dominated by Iran, Russia and China.

Thanks to Obama, the Sunnis in Iraq have been thrown into disarray and Iran is quietly taking over the Shia majority dominated Southern Iraq.

Making Iran the power broker in the region is official Obama Administration foreign policy,

Despite the much publicized Obama -Putin split, things seem to be moving in the direction Obama wishes them to which makes one wonder how much of the media on the Obama - Putin conflict is reality or more propaganda and theatrics to cover for Obama and allow him to “have more flexibility” in allowing Russia to implement it's policy goals around the world.

Yes. Moreover it is dismaying to see US policy in such complete disarray. Even the normally strong Arabist influence in the State Department appears at a loss as to what to propose to protect the Saudis and the Gulf oil sheikdoms if nothing else. The level of drift and disorganization is pretty unprecedented and ,IMHO, exceeds that of the Carter Administration during and after the fall of the Shah. The State Dept did pull things together Carter in an unusually strong and cogent address to the nation announced what was called the ‘Carter Doctrine’ which basically made the US the guarantor of stability in the Persian Gulf region. For better or worse it was a clearly stated policy formulation. Today we have those who initiated the “Arab Spring’ milling about in disorder and confusion. They hope the Iran deal will give the Arab states time to sort things out. But hope is not a plan. Truly we are watching the Sorcerer’s Apprentices in action and there is no Sorcerer to rescue them or the mid-East or the US.

Excellent analysis. Well stated. It has not been this bad since Carter lost Iran.

I say...let the Russians do their thang. If they crush that evil ISIS...well then good.

At least it’s not our men and woman coming back all shot up.

After decades in Iraq/Afghanistan...let it be someone else’s turn.

What Russia is doing makes perfect sense. They are going to take control of the gulf and are working to hold Europe hostage with their control of oil and gas supplies.

Of course the US can do something about this, but the EPA and envirowhackos are preventing it.

Game, set, match Russia.
