Here is a video about Swiss civilians and their firearm ownership. I find it interesting that the Swiss Goverment hands out practice ammo for these special range days for all armed citizens to practice with. There are some details of the range, in the video, interesting.

Sooner or later one will pass, and that will be the end of Switzerland's rather unique firearms culture.
Okay, that gives me a headache. LOL!
Full Auto Siamese Mouser?
At a certain age, the Swiss government issues a military rifle to every male of a certain age and that male is required to receive some military training to go along with it. Then they keep the weapon the rest of their lives and are expected to come to the nation’s defense if an invasion or military emergency arises. Government supplied ammo and mandatory range days makes perfect sense. May be one of the reasons Switzerland has never been invaded. (We get libs telling us how bad guns are.)
Interesting. Thanks for the post.
If you read a lot of social media outlets’ accounts of the firearm culture in Switzerland, it seems like the firearm culture is anything but. Apparently they can’t keep their weapons loaded in the home and have to report to the local ranges to check out ammunition and practice. The gun culture there is not as liberal and open as Americans would like to think, but I do think that they are one of the more permissive societies in Europe vis-a-vis firearms.
That said, the liberals are going to be relentless in trying to remove guns from their society altogether, and as more Muslims infect the once-great continent, it’ll be easier for them to accomplish large-scale confiscation and prohibition under the guise of “national security.”
No problem. The Swiss model is under assault constantly and sooner or later the Swiss libs will slip one under the wire and the downward spiral will begin. Someone posted a reply some time ago about Swiss firearms and it apparently isn’t as easy to have one as we think. Not sure. Haven’t been to Switzerland since ‘96. Or was it ‘97. Whenever princess Di got killed we were in Geneva that night getting ready to head home.
Brilliant!
It's a mixed bag - but then, Europe has always flaky on this topic. There is no cultural revulsion of firearms in Switzerland - no fear generated by the mere sight of someone with a slung rifle. People sometimes travel to the ranges on bicycles, range bag strapped over the rear wheel and rifle on their back.
At the same time, the Swiss view our attitudes toward *handguns* as extremely lax and confusing. For them, handguns are a minor, almost invisible part of the "gun culture".
The rifle/pistol dividing line seems to be the point in Switzerland where national and military history runs up against modern European thought.
Changing anything major is the Swiss political system is quite the chore. All Cantons must agree before anything can change. Changing the gun laws will be a tough row to hoe.

Heh. The image generator may be “Politifake”, but those Sigs are real enough.
