“Ive watched whole towns dry up and die since the passage of NAFTA, in rural NC, southside VA, youve got to be kidding. You dont know nearly as much as you appear to believe yourself to know.”
What has been the trend in NC’s population over the past 20 years? By the way, my problem is with the DAMAGE done by unions, of which you are unable to refute. All you are saying is that free trade has cost jobs - I never said otherwise - I’m only noting that if you close off trade you better control the unions (since they’ll have their monopolies back), or you have some REALLY PISSED OFF consumers as they see their plasmas increase by HUGE amounts, because of union extractions from their employers.
A state with a formerly small-town orientation has seen depopulation in rural areas and booming population in (some) urban areas as well as surrounding suburbs, as it turns increasingly purple due to people bailing out of New York and New Jersey. The people remaining in urban areas have few options as far as employment, so they're either commuting long distances to urban areas or on public assistance. It's pathetic, and it's due to trade policy. Not unions, they never had them. Trade policy.
