I’ve said that unions are “A BARRIER” to bringing back manufacturing, not the only barrier. There are also environmental, zoning, safety, and other barriers. But for some reason people here get defensive about protecting unions...even though they practically finance the entire Democrat Party.
As to the South, I guess you haven’t been to the Northeast or Midwest - the carnage of their manufacturing base DWARFS anything the south can ever hope to offer. There is a reason why nearly all of the JOB GROWTH in this country has been in the South. But yes, some factories, union or not, have sucky management and will be shut down, and yes, some of those are in the South.
So do you have anything to support your contention that non-union factories are shutting down faster than union factories or is it based on a few derelict buildings in Religh?
And by the way, there hasn’t even been significant manufacturing in the South until recently...and given the population growth in the South over that same time, I would say manufacturing is doing JUST FINE in the South.
I’ve watched whole towns dry up and die since the passage of NAFTA, in rural NC, southside VA, you’ve got to be kidding. You don’t know nearly as much as you appear to believe yourself to know.
