Pope praises Iran nuclear deal as 'proof of political good will' in UN address

UNITED NATIONS: Pope Francis on Friday threw his support behind Iran's accord with major powers as he backed a goal of global abolition of nuclear weapons.

The Iran agreement "is proof of the potential of political goodwill, exercised with sincerity, patience and constancy," Francis said in an address to the United Nations.

"I express my hope that this agreement will be lasting and efficacious, and bring forth the desired fruits with the cooperation of all the parties involved," he said.

Francis made his remarks a day after a friendly welcome at the U.S. Congress, where many Republican lawmakers have vehemently criticized President Barack Obama for negotiating with Iran, an enemy of the United States and Israel since its 1979 Islamic revolution.

In his U.N. address, Francis also appealed anew for the protection of Christians and other people persecuted by extremists in Syria and Iraq.

You make some good points.

Yes, it’s complex and probably much worse than we imagine.

For what it’s worth, I think the third Secret of Fatima is a Muslim invasion and Apostasy in the Church.

Did the Pope actually equate Islam with Catholicism?

I wouldn’t doubt that he said something along those lines.

The islamics are very open about their plans to destroy the church, Christianity, and the Vatican - it appears the holy father is suffering from the suicide syndrome so prevalent now in the west. Not sure how or why this is — something in the water?

Well, lol, I wish I could keep up with you on that remark, but I’m not Catholic but I do or at least did have a lot of respect for the Church. In fact I’m not affiliated and a bit of a anomaly these days myself..

Is the Pope Catholic?

Y'know... there was once a time when that question was considered a rhetorical "of course!" sort of comment. Today...? Not so much. (*sigh*)

This papacy is really painful to endure...

Not sure how or why this is — something in the water?

I think it's more general then that..

I think it's a human trait that repeats and repeats and fails and fails, still hoping for a different result.

It is the easy road!

Well....we all have our reasons..

Mine are more of a disdain for what I view as inter-faith warfare and hypocrisy. It really ticks me off..so I have difficulty with and within groups of people, Christians or otherwise...

Not that I want or desire to lead these groups, but I would if called. But I just cannot follow what I don’t particularly feel comfortable with.

Many see this as self interest and vanity. I have considered this in depth, but I don’t think that is the crux of it. Perhaps I am more anti-social then I realize, but I get along with most people just fine..

It just is what it is.....I suppose...

Fortunately this Pope holds no Political office, although RATS will Parrot ever word. This guy is DANGEROUS, he has no itellectual curiosity, did you read the Iran deal Dear Pope? You couldn’t have and come to he conclusion that you have, therefore I declare you a tool of the left. Your take on Global “hoaxe” Warming is just further confirmation. Like I said this guy is Dangerous and so called Americans are lapping him up in DC / NYC.

Seems to me that the Pope’s biggest admirers are atheists, and other non-Christians.

Yep, he did. I guess the 10 gabillion trillion terror attacks by Muslims just slipped his mind.

http://nationalreport.net/pope-francis-followers-koran-holy-bible/

This is a website he should check out if he thinks the “Koran, and the spiritual teachings contained therein, are just as valid as the Holy Bible”....

http://www.thereligionofpeace.com/

The guy who runs that website keeps track of every terror attack committed in the name of Islam. Not a day goes by where it doesn’t happen.

In just the past 4 days alone......

2015.09.24 (Sanaa, Yemen) - At least twenty-nine Shia worshippers are reduced to pulp by a dedicated Sunni suicide bomber.
2015.09.21 (Tarmiya, Iraq) - Three family members are shot to death by religious radicals.
2015.09.21 (Rastan, Syria) - Seven men are shot by the Islamic State ‘for being gay.’
2015.09.20 (Monguno, Nigeria) - A Fedayeen suicide bomb blast rips through an outdoor market, claiming forty-five innocents.
2015.09.20 (Ngorongoro, Nigeria) - Six villagers have their throats slit by Boko Haram.
2015.09.20 (Maiduguri, Nigeria) - Boko Haram bombers strike a rival mosque and several other buildings, killing at least eighty - including children.
