A big part of South Carolina's primary problems can be traced to the fact that each party has separate primary days and low standards for who gets to vote in each.

You are only supposed to vote in one or the other, but I'm unaware of any penalty if you vote in both. As I no longer have any family in South Carolina, would any Freeper down there care to enlighten us on the details?

Conservativetreehouse.com explains it best—the GOP elitists disenfranchise republican voters by diluting the field with shill placeholder candidates. It happens with Lindsey, and they try it with Bush. Carly, Kasich, etc. They divide and steal the nomination.

I don’t know SC, but wasnt that last race flooded with a ton of unelectable candidates diluting Graham’s low showing to quite below 50%
