Donald Trump Sets His Sights on Marco Rubio: He’s Just a ‘Kid’
nypost.com ^ | SEPTEMBER 25, 2015

Donald Trump belittled GOP presidential rival Marco Rubio as “a kid” on Thursday, boasting that he’s better versed on Syria than the Florida senator, who sits on both the Senate Intelligence and Foreign Relations committees.

“I know more about Syria than Marco Rubio knows about Syria,” Trump said on CNN. “Marco Rubio . . . he’s like a kid. He shouldn’t even be running in this race, as far as I’m concerned. He’s a kid.”

Trump, 69, who has mocked GOP rival Jeb Bush as “low energy” and Democratic front-runner Hillary Rodham Clinton as “shrill,” called Rubio, 44, a legislative lightweight.

“He’s got the worst voting record in the United States Senate. He’s never there, meaning he doesn’t work or he’s too lazy to go back and vote,” Trump said.

This guy is a great football coach. Go after the opponents greatest strength.

With Jeb it was his mild mannered moderate happy warrior persona. Trump called it low energy. And its stuck.

Now one of Rubio’s greatest assets, his youth, is being attacked. Add in a little lightweight narrative and mission accomplished.

If Rubio’s not there to vote, what’s he doing?

Seems like active participation in the legislative process should be the top priority for any Senator or Congressperson.

Does Trump, who will be 70 next year, really want to get into a discussion about age?

Rubio is a kid—and a lightweight.

And, most likely, a liar.

Witness his participation in the Gang of Eight amnesty scam.

Ahem - Jeb was and is low energy. One gets the sense that the only reason he even entered the race is because his handlers decided that he could be bought and paid for and he's been bumbling along ever since.

As far as Rubio's greatest strength being his youth, his early rise to "fame" for being a Latino who talked like a Conservative and his modifications of that to label himself as a "moderate RINO", I guess youth may be his only strength - but alas, youth ain't a platform. Brings to mind when Reagan was called too old and he quipped about his opponent's youth and inexperience of Mondale as a "platform". Trump doesn't have the oratory class of a Reagan (and nowhere near a Cruz) but he do gets da job dun...

That said, your tagline says what is really important:

GO CRUZ!!! Keep it up Trump!!

Ronald Reagan handled the age issue best- when they started talking about how old he was compared to Mondale he said “I refuse to hold my opponents youth and inexperience against him”

If Trump is a serious candidate he should spend more time developing policy proposals and making the case for himself and less time insulting candidates and reporters.

Jeb was however never a “happy warrior”. That’s what his handlers told him he needed to be (rather than the Eeyore that he is)—and so just like his dad, he told people what his assignment of affect was.

Rubio was part of the gang of 8. He wants amnesty and is owned by the donor class that wants cheap labor.
