Pope Francis: Climate Change Action Can’t Wait
CBS Baltimore ^ | 23 Sep 15 | AP

Posted on 09/23/2015 9:47:21 AM PDT by xzins

Jumping into the issues of the day, Pope Francis opened his visit to the United States with a strong call Wednesday for action to combat climate change, calling it a problem that “can no longer be left to a future generation.” President Barack Obama, in turn, hailed the pontiff as a moral force who is “shaking us out of our complacency” with reminders to care for the poor and the planet.

The White House mustered all the pageantry it had to offer as the pope arrived at the White House before an adoring crowd of thousands and a nation that seemingly cannot get enough of the humble pontiff who is rejuvenating American Catholicism while giving heartburn to some of its conservatives.

Speaking in a soft voice and halting English, Francis delivered a strong message against those who doubt the science of climate change, saying that the warming planet “demands on our part a serious and responsible recognition” of conditions awaiting today’s children.

It was a message sure to delight the Obama White House, and liberals in general. But the pope’s message had something for conservatives, too, with a pointed call to protect religious liberties — “one of America’s most precious possessions.”

I'm Catholic. Pope Francis is a socialist. He was born in Argentina, a socialist country, the home of the infamous Eva and Juan Perone, who were Leftist dictators in that country for many years. Like Obama, Pope Francis is a Trojan horse, because both of these men won their elections by withholding the truth about who they are, and what they believe in. This Pope has to go, and the sooner the better.

I’m not Catholic, but it’s rare to see that kind of comment about a pope.

Uhhh, did you read any of the other posts?

Do not worry about me. I am right with my Lord and I do not stand with the Antichrist with flies buzzing around me like this Pope.

AWESOME. Now that the Anthropogenic Global Warming Narrative is officially part of Catholic Dogma, can we start jailing Catholics for contempt of court when they refuse to burn a tire on Erf Day?

Hey Francis!

My local climate is changing; just s you’ve said.

I now have to wear a sweatshirt over my t-shirt when I’m outside early in the morning.

The local propaganda delivery device has warned me that soon I’ll need a jacket or even a COAT!

“The Pope wants more coal mines shut down. He wants taxes raised for wealth restribution. He wants Oil drilling to stop. He wants people to quit driving cars.......”.

All goals of Agenda 21.

JESUITS IMPLODE Even liberals are sounding the alarm on the order's free fall into decadence and intolerance.

"Were Ignatius of Loyola alive today, the Jesuit order he founded wouldn't ordain him. His once-formidable society is now a corrupt club for homosexual dilettantes and anti-papal dissenters. Real Catholics need no longer apply...

I heard today the Pope doesn’t watch TV (wont hold that against him) and only reads some Italian fish wrap a few minutes a day (decent chance it is a far left rag) And they said GWB wasn’t curious. So who has this guys ear and what happened to this Pope’s common sence if he ever had any?

Just as a note, his English is terrible. My guess is that he doesn’t understand it based on his difficulty reading it and sounding out the syllables. It was awful.

That said, Pope Francis is a Jesuit, and to blur that fact, he assumed the name of another more benign order, the Franciscans, stealing St Francis’ name rather than Ignatius’. Nor do I think that those who elected him and permitted his pathway to election were unaware of what they were doing.

On CNN just now some guy is interviewing 2 Catholics, I think they are a priest and a nun not sure, but the reporter dude just made a comment to them about some who don’t belive in climate change but the Pope’s a chemist so he knows about global warming or some such malarky. Now he calls the Pope a “mediator.” And the woman talking about how we “encounter” others. What is it with this phrase I keep hearing, what does it mean?

AND MOST OF ALL what happened to the separation of church and State?

IIRC, the Pope’s degree is in philosophy and not chemistry. You might want to check me on that, but I read it recently.

And an environmentalist-movement parody of St. Francis at that.

It is notable that in quoting St. Francis' "Canticle of the Sun" in his encyclical, "Laudato Si'", Pope Francis redacted the Saint's lines concerning mortal sin and death.

Remember when, on occasion, the Catholic Church would criticize public school policy. I say remember because it DOES NOT happen any more.

The Catholic Church is providing social workers to public schools via Catholic Charities. Catholic Charities finds newly graduated idealistic social workers and hires them to the school district as consultants. They pay a poverty level wage ($18,000) and then add an overhead rate that would make a military contractor blush (90-110%).

Never heard about it you say?

Well everyone involved is very happy with the arrangement. The church gets massive and steady revenue -tax free. The school board for it’s part is buying the full faith of the Catholic Church.

12 years of catholic school here -not a hater by any means. But, I have no interest in this church, unless they sell stock and post a dividend. They do have a fantastic business model and no entity will profit more from global warming redistribution.

No NGO is better positioned to profit from global warming redistribution that the Catholic Church.

“Zero mention of Jesus in his entire White House presentation. Stunning.”

That says a lot right there.

Maybe but I’ve heard it mentioned twice now on tv. Even if he does have a degree in chemistry what does the mixing of chemicals and such have to do with weather/climate expertise, that’s what I don’t get.

It looks like he had a chemical technician degree from a technical school before becoming a priest and not a chemistry degree from a college or university.

My degree is in chemistry. I guess I’m an expert in global warming too and I say it’s a fraud.

Just a technician’s degree.

Does Pope Francis have a master’s degree in chemistry?

Seems to me that the thousands of Christians being slaughtered by ISIS and other terrorists in the Middle East, as well as those being persecuted around the world including right here in the USA, deserved at least a mention.
