Yes. Nat Hentoff is an atheist from a Jewish background. He is a crusading civil libertarian and would be considered pretty far Left in most aspects. But he is also very pro-Life. Religion has nothing to do with it — he just recognizes that the topic is all about living baby humans and he opposes murdering them. Imagine that!
Yes, I remember reading Hentoff’s recollection of his realization that: I’m a liberal, I’m supposed to be for the “little guy”, the defenseless, so therefore I should be pro-fetus! (My words not his.)
I also remember hearing Don Imus (not a fan, but I used to listen to him) say: have an abortion if you will, but just admit you’re killing a baby. It was weird actually, I don’t even remember what was being discussed and he said this pretty much as an aside right before they went to a commercial, or the newsbreak or something. But he did say it and I, for one at least, appreciated it.
