damn! he just lost a lot of the FReeper vote
Young people today probably have no idea how contentious it was at the time. Before the election of 1960 Kennedy actually had to meet with a number of Protestant leaders, like Norman Vincent Peale, to assure the Protestant faithful that he wouldn't be under the Pope's orders.
As a ten year old Catholic, I remember being questioned by my next door neighbor, a mother of a Protestant family, that didn't my parents have to vote for Kennedy because we were Catholics. I knew almost zilch about the election or politics in general, but I told her that I didn't think so. Most Catholics voted Dem but not all.
We had one Catholic neighbor who four years later had a Goldwater sticker on his car. But the fact that Goldwater's running mate, Bill Miller, was a Catholic cut no ice with my strong Dem parents. But religious affiliation was a lot bigger thing back in those days.
RE: damn! he just lost a lot of the FReeper vote
Why? For the statement he made on Theocracy? Do a lot of FReepers want that?
RE: Every legal system is a reflection of societys theology.
So, what’s a legal system that legalizes partial birth abortion and same sex marriage based on?
Neopaganism.
Renounce entirely?
That’s exactly what I was trying to say.Islam is not compatible with Christianity. A Muslim who turns Christian is by default renouncing Islam.
Unless he’s lying.
Our system does not choose between theologies, but voters must choose. If a candidate's theology/worldview is antithetical to liberty or hostile toward Christianity like Islam or Communism then a Christian must not vote for them. Each individual is accountable to god and to men in a republic. Your vote affects me, Obama works for the citizens and so he is accountable etc. The fact that men do not judge salvation does not mean that they do not judge words and actions. Yes it all matters. When Ted Cruz said that a president who does not begin his day on his knees is not fit for the office that is a statement of theology and also absolutely true, but then truth is a matter of theology.
Legally? Certainly not the Constitution.
Morally? Certainly not Judeo-Christian & Biblical morality.
We are nearing the end of the road - the end of the age, the last church age, the Laodicean age. Boy you can really see the elements of the End and "the wrath to come" coming together.
Not to worry if you are a believer in Jesus Christ. "God has not appointed us to wrath" (1 Thess 5:9). Before it all comes down Jesus will comes as a thief and snatch us from this world and we'll be watching from Heaven's Mezzanine while we banquet and party at the seven-year Marriage Supper of the Lamb in Heaven. Now THAT is something worth looking forward to. Can't wait. See you there.
I agree with most of what you say. We are just talking past each other a little bit, quibbling over terminology more than ideology.
Dems are collecting more voters... their ‘outrage’ is fake...
from link:
As Breitbart News has previously documented, every year the United States voluntarily imports more than a quarter of a million or 280,000 Muslim migrants. This number includes 117,423 migrants who were permanently resettled with Legal Permanent Resident status, as well as an additional 122,921 temporary Muslim workers and foreign students, and 39,932 Muslim refugee and asylees. This means that each year, the U.S. admits a number of Muslim migrants larger in size than the entire population of Des Moines, Iowa.
According to Pew Research, only 11 percent of Muslim Americans identify as Republican or leaning-Republican, making them one of the most reliable Democrat voting blocs in the country.
Regrettably, that ship appears to have sailed.
