Admin Mod note: Title changed at source to Cruz: Carson's stance on Muslim presidents unconstitutional
Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) is criticizing GOP rival Ben Carson for saying that a Muslim should not be president of the United States.
At a campaign stop in Des Moines, Iowa, on Sunday evening, Cruz said religious convictions should have no bearing on ones fitness for the Oval Office.
You know, the Constitution specifies there shall be no religious test for public office and I am constitutionalist, he said, according to The Des Moines Register.
My view, listen. The presidents faith is between him and God, the 2016 Republican White House hopeful added of President Obama. What Im going to focus on is his public policy record.

Are you saying the constitution prevents Muslims from running for president?
"Providence has given to our people the choice of their rulers, and it is the duty, as well as the privilege and interest of our Christian nation to select and prefer Christians for their rulers."
Still trolling, huh!
What in the world is Cruz talking about??? One’s religious convictions certainly does have a bearing on how one governs. Christians do NOT put their faith in JESUS CHRIST on a shelf when they enter the work place! Cruz is in Biblical error.
Has Cruz read and believe Matthew 10:32-33 (KJV)
“Whosoever therefore shall confess (acknowledge) Me (JESUS) before men, him will I confess also before My FATHER which is in Heaven. But whosoever shall deny (reject) Me before men, him will I also deny before My FATHER which is in Heaven.”
You can see CHRIST in His TRUE followers in word AND deed. TRUE followers of CHRIST are led by the HOLY SPIRIT 24/7, and that includes in the work place (Psalm 37:23). We are also NOT ashamed of the Gospel of JESUS CHRIST!
“For I am not ashamed of the Gospel of CHRIST: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”(Romans:16)
If Cruz is truly a Christian, he is going to be in for a rude awakening at the Judgement Seat of CHRIST if he puts JESUS on a shelf as he pursues his career(2 Corinthians 5:10).
Noting that the Constitutions prohibition on a religous test would also turn a blind eye to a radical, anti-Christian Muslim being president, a flaw with the religous test imo, as a constitutionalist I will point out that the Constitution is amendable.
Lake, did you read the whole article? Cruz DID NOT CRITICIZE Carson. He simply had a slightly different take.....but they both agree it’s a BAD BAD idea to elect one......period.
The problem islam has is that it is a POLITICAL, LEGAL (SHARI’A) SYSTEM HELL BENT ON WORLD DOMINATION MASQUERADING AS A RELIGION.
There is NO Radical Islam. It’s ALL JUST Islam and, if they adhere to the teachings of Mohammed, THEY’RE ALL RADICAL because, ultimately, they ALL want kafirs (that’s us) D.E.A.D.! Get used to it!!
If you genuinely want to understand the TRUE, VIOLENT, DUALISTIC, SCHIZOPHRENIC nature of ISLAM in order to become part of a solution instead of part of the problem that spells doom for Western Civilization (and, NO, that’s not too extreme a statement), you need to spend 40 minutes with Dr. Bill Warner here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YjBDDC4wVxk
(Don’t be concerned when Dr. Warner mentions that he sells books. Though I suggest you sample the info in the first 5 minutes if only to get a sense of how thorough his research has been, if short on time, slide out past the 5 minute mark for the red meat beyond. THAT’S where the really good stuff is.)
And this is ESPECIALLY for any antisemites who view the “Jewish Conspiracy” as the primary threat to your existence and are put off because the video was posted by a Jewish group. Try to think of any nations conquered by violent, bloody Jewish jihad and send me their names.
After watching this presentation, if you STILL believe that Bush was correct when he called islam a “religion of peace” (it’s not a religion and it ain’t peaceful) and Obama was right when he recently declared islam morally equivalent or superior to the Christian Crusades, you are DEFINITELY a BIG part of the problem.
Gang, this is a WAR and it is one we dare not lose!
PLEASE SHARE THIS BEFORE THEY STRIKE OFF YOUR FINGER TIPS, YOUR HEAD or SOME OTHER ESSENTIAL BODY PART!!

You’re not disagreeing with Cruz, you’re disagreeing with the strawman you created.
Enjoy the battle. Let us know who wins.
Correction: in Nobama’s case, it’s between him and Satan.

Amen.
Allah = satan
The headline is lying. Read other comments on this and many previous threads today regarding what Carson and Cruz are saying.
They both agree with each other and are correct.
Do not fall for leftist lying headlines
I expect mealy mouthed from Jeb, not from Ted Cruz.
What he said didn't help himself one bit.
Sorry, it didn't, and so far he's been my number one choice. It makes him less desirable as a candidate when he sounds like Jeb. If Trump goes into the dumpster, Ted won't inherit his voters by sounding like this.
.
This isn’t about Islam’s problem; it is about your lack of comprehension.
You let the MSM blow your mind for nothing.
Cruz and Carson are both right.
The Constitution says you can’t just exclude someone from running because they are Muslim. So Cruz is right.
But Carson says Americans should not choose to vote for a Muslim, and there’s nothing wrong there with what he said.
We cannot set religious tests for office in our laws.

Yes we can...during town halls, debates, and in the voting booth.
It's the Koran.
Ben Carson is right, a Muslim president actually IS a bad idea, according to the Koran

I didn’t say he criticized Carson, just that he should have allied himself with Trump and Carson on this one. As I told another poster, mealy mouthed is not what we need right now, and this was a poor (IMHO mealy mouthed) reaction on his part.
Nonsense.
Ted Cruz is exactly right. You try stopping any Muslim from running for president and see where that gets ya.
