Admin Mod note: Title changed at source to Cruz: Carson's stance on Muslim presidents unconstitutional
Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) is criticizing GOP rival Ben Carson for saying that a Muslim should not be president of the United States.
At a campaign stop in Des Moines, Iowa, on Sunday evening, Cruz said religious convictions should have no bearing on ones fitness for the Oval Office.
You know, the Constitution specifies there shall be no religious test for public office and I am constitutionalist, he said, according to The Des Moines Register.
My view, listen. The presidents faith is between him and God, the 2016 Republican White House hopeful added of President Obama. What Im going to focus on is his public policy record.

You like strawmen too I see!
He said absolutely nothing about the relevance of anyone’s beliefs. He was speaking as to laws.
Great Ted, you just picked up two Muslim votes with that brave stand. The problem is Muslims can’t separate their religion and their place in the secular world as a whole. Isn’t this why we have so many problems being caused by the practitioners of the “religion of peace”?
1. Ted Cruz did not rebuke Dr. Carson
2. Dr. Carson did NOT say that a Muslim cannot be POTUS.
3. Dr. Carson DID say that he doesn’t advocate that a Muslim be POTUS
4. Ted Cruz implied that Obama is a Muslim
5. Dr. Carson DID say that Sharia is not consistent with the Constitution
Basically a terrible headline
.
The putty heads are going to believe what they wish.
.
I’m beginning to think Carson did this intentionally to take the heat of Donald.
Good post~!
I’ll be glad when all of you “Cruz just lost my vote” people start supporting other candidates. More than likely Cruz never had your vote and this is just an excuse for Walker, Jindal, Grahamnesty, and other supporters to bash Cruz.
Let’s hear why your guy is so great and Cruz isn’t. So far I haven’t heard one valid argument to that effect.
Seems that by the quotes Cruz implies that the president is a Muslim. I saw no rebuke of Carson, He just clarified it as not being a constitutional issue.
Ted can get pretty Wonkish at times.

The headline is lying. Read other comments on this and many previous threads today regarding what Carson and Cruz are saying.
They both agree with each other and are correct.
Do not fall for leftist lying headlines.
I take issue with Cruz on this one.
Until the beginning of the 1900’s, a man’s faith was a very important issue for ANY government position. In fact until the 1900’s there were certain laws against having an atheist in certain elected offices. America’s first 150 years wasn’t really too bad as a result.
Unlike so many who are confused today as a result of unconstitutional decisions and acts of SCOTUS and the feds, back then, people were clear that religious faith IN OFFICE was VERY IMPORTANT. There is no constitutional language of “separation of church and state” which is a doctrine of Satan, not in the First Amendment.
Those that dispute that faith was important in government office are refuted by the many stone carvings around DC and the states testifying to the importance of faith in all areas of society especially in government.

Yes, you are right.....but ya, know.
Let’s just say our personal constitutions have a few amendments that address this.
Knee jerking really pisses me off.
Some ass-wipe leftist blogger throws out a line of BS.
Way too many FReepers swallow that load as if it were true.
