Billy - there is no point at which Jesus approves of using force to make your neighbor be charitable to your standards.
wrong.
lol....idiot De Blasio will get re-elected because all the real-estate developers love his rules and will fund his campaign.
I have some advice for Rubio, too: Don’t take religious guidance from DeBlasio.
As with most Bolshies, the left views being wrong as a resume enhancer.
“The word of God never mentions using the government to care for those less fortunate.”
Right. That was the mandate for the local church. I told that to my lib Catholic friend who thinks that the government must take care of every unfortunate person. She got pretty upset because, she said, “Not everybody goes to church! Somebody needs to help them.” I told her that decisions (to avoid church) have consequences.
Jesus said, “Blessed are the poor in spirit”, ..... He did not say that only destitute people could get to heaven. He did allude however, to the excessive love of material things and money, when he said it was “harder for a rich man to get to heaven than for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle.” So, Jesus is saying we need a sharing and loving heart for those who are in poverty.
Jesus cares for the status of our hearts, not our bankbooks. It has nothing to do with external politics, but our own relationship to God and to his commandments.
Got that right! I’m with Lord Jesus Christ on this.
And when St Peter greets them at the Pearly Gates and asks “what did you do for the poor?” I don’t think he will be pleased with the answer ‘I paid my taxes’.
