There is definitely inconsistency. “Hypocrisy” requires a conscious decision to proclaim one value while practicing another. It is possible that many truly believe that habitual sexual incontinence is consistent with Christianity.
I’ve observed that many who profess Christianity don’t actually read the Bible, or other sources of instruction, a great deal. While it’s entirely possible to be a Christian without functional literacy, that leaves you at the mercy of those who tell you what Christianity means.
