The Catholic church likes to damn a lot of people to hell for and over things that God never even mentions in Scripture, much less calls sin.

there’s no biblical basis for that- I would invite you to do some online research into ‘Christians and Suicide’ and look at links that are not catholic to find out why-
Did you know God granted Sampson the request to commit suicide? (Sampson was saved, and we know this because God does NOT listen to unsaved people nor answer them EXCEPT when they become saved)-
This is just one example, however, there are better explanations why suicide is not a ‘mortal sin’- the only ‘mortal sin’ as it were is blasphemy against the Holy spirit- and ONLY an unsaved person can commit this-
