I remember it well. The in vogue thing to do at the time was to move the call centers (HP not alone in this regard) from India to Costa Rica. I would tell my accounts that India, being a former British colony, the call agents understood English well, just couldn’t speak it. And as for Costa Rica, while the accent is much more pleasant on the ears, they just don’t understand English.
