15 yards. 1 game suspension. Done.

That was a criminal act and should be treated as such.

I played football in the late 60’s and only once was to experience this kind of thuggery. The opposing coach told the team to beat our team they would have to knock me and my older brother out of the game.

My brother was middle line backer, I, a running back, the center and nose guard for the other team was a criminal, he tackled me and tried to twist my ankle while in the pile up. I kicked him off and complained to the referee what he had done using SOB in my description and the ref admonished me. “Watch our tongue, sonny!” I told my brother what he had done.

After the the thug snapped the ball for a plan he dove out and grabbed my older brothers leg and planted it on the ground while another player hit him and twisted his knee badly. Brother hobbled out asked the coach to tape it up good he was going back in.

Next play the thug tried the same ploy on brother who was waiting and he took a step back to avoid the center who fell short of my brother's position and brother leaped as high as he could and planted both heels in the small of the thugs back and twisted them from side to side. No one noticed but the fallen center who screamed in agony and was carted off to the hospital on a stretcher

I scored three touchdowns and we won the game.

Unintentional? Maybe. Looks like he intended to throw the helmet and it hit his opponent who was getting up. Could be an accident. This is where the player’s history comes in. Is this the first time something like this has happened? Does he make cheap hits on the field?

“He really didn’t intentionally do this. He’s very hurt. He’s crying… To keep him off the team, I don’t think that is the answer,”.....

If it wasn’t intentional, then why the hell did he do it?

His actions and intent were to hurt the other player, PERIOD! No ifs, ands or buts about it. Having been FILMED in the midst of his actions, its obvious he is GUILTY. There are consequence and he should NOT be excused.

Have watched football for a few decades and don’t recall another instance of a player snatching another player’s helmet off and using it as a weapon. The kid should not be allowed to play high school football again, and should be charged criminally. Heat of the moment excuses are BS. Most violent crimes are heat of the moment.

“I don’t know if kicking him off for the season is the answer”......... Such response is EXACTLY why we see this with many of the professional players of today. They start out with actions much like the kid in the lead story, are given a pass and life goes on until the next, and the next, and the next time. Letting these primadona “athletes” get away time after time, eventually they wind up in jail and wonder what the hell happened. The only way to stop stuff like this from happening is severe consequences for such behavior.

I tried to sit back and ask the question "What would have happened to this kid 45 years ago when I played?"

The answer is "I don't know". This kind of violence was totally unheard of when I was young. It is so cowardly and dishonorable it is hard to comprehend.

Honor, decency and truthfulness are lost. So is our Republic.

I bet the victim was crying too. And the cut/suspension? they were also “unintentional”.

First, i agree it was an abhorrant act. But the offensive player obviously was cheating on the play and conyinued holding the defensive player all the way through to just before the helmet hit. The helmet came off when the defensive player, in frustration, pushed him away by the face mask. He then, unfortunately used it to accentuate his frustration as if to say here is your helmet back. Not being able to see very well through his own helmet, he misjudged giving it back and caused the damage that needed stitches.

If the intent was to hurt, he could have easily ave done it, but he should have just beaten him on the next play. He was pwning that offensive dude.

Ten stitches to the head is not “a serious injuy”? Okay, come here. I have a non-serious injury for you.

Ummm, the facemask penalty alone is 15 yards. (He gabbed the facemask to pull off the helmet.)

The forward swing of the helmet into the face is clearly intentional. It may not be worth an arrest, but it is with at least multiple-game suspension.

Ten stitches is nothing

On the face, they like to use a lot of stitches to minimize scarring.

The hurt player obviously was not too hurt getting up playing the little angel who did nothing wrong

In the article in the Daily Mail yesterday, she claimed his hand got stuck in the other players helmet. Also a claim he was speared and (get ready for it) was called the N word.
