DALLAS - A Texas high school football coach directed two players to strike a referee during a game because of missed calls that had hurt the team, the players claimed Friday during a national broadcast.
During an appearance on ABCs Good Morning, America, Michael Moreno and Victor Rojas also repeated earlier claims that the ref had used racial slurs.
Moreno said he regrets hitting Robert Watts and wants to apologize. Rojas said he was just doing what he was told.
The two were suspended from the Jay High School football team in San Antonio in the aftermath of the game early this month at Marble Falls. The Northside school district moved them to an alternative school as investigations into the matter continue.

Oh, so they’ve changed their story. They originally said they did it because the official called them the “n” word.
If at first you don’t succeed...
I think they still hold to the slur story. But whether the coach told them to do it or not, they are responsible for their own actions. If the coach told them to go jump off a bridge would they have done that, too?
The coach should file suit against them for defamation.
“just doing what he was told.”
I was just doing what I was told when I marched them to the ovens. Didn’t work at Nuremberg, shouldn’t work here.
So when will Obama invite them to the White House?
If this is true the coach should be banned from ALL ports for life.
Right. The ref has been a ref for 14 years and all of a sudden has charges leveled against him for saying “racial slurs”.
What BS.
Well, just doing what he was told; not his fault then.
I don’t believe a word that the referee called them a racist name..........that’s a cop-out but I might believe that coach, directly or indirectly, had them take the ref out, but a coach is not a god and you have to have sense enough NOT to do something that stupid! Perhaps I’ve watched the Karate Kid too often?.........
You mean, like seaports? cackle, cackle, cackle :)
Indeed....I guess that didn’t fly when everyone realized they were ‘Hispanic”
They didn’t look black to me.
I would guess that the lessons of the Nuremburg Trials haven’t been taught in public schools for at least 30 years.
The attackers’s testimony can be used to set the coach’s prison term. The attackers can’t use the Nazi alibi that they did what they were told. Off to prison for them too. That was assault!
The school system superintendent, his/her staff, the principal and staff, athletic director and staff, and the football coach and staff should be court-sanctioned and barred from teaching/administration positions for life.
The school system’s athletic teams should be barred for the next two years.
I know New Jersey law says assault on a sports official is a felony.
I have not read any details about the alleged 'slurs', but I did read earlier that the Ref had the audacity to tell the players to speak English. I presume the 'lads' lawyers are telling them to construe this as a 'racial slur'. At least that is my suspicion.
They are not, but the Assistant Coach Breed, who they said directed their actions, is black.
Even ports in a storm
They repeat the scurrilous claims of racial comments by ref.
These 2 brain surgeons were benchwarmers who were in the game only after and because the starters had been ejected for fighting. They weren’t even in the game when the alleged comments were made.
It should be noted that Moreno, the senior who wants to be an aerospace engineer, escaped being ejected for his assault on the ref by spearing him.
He made up for that by being ejected on the very next play for a late hit on the opposing QB as he dropped to a knee to end a play and the game.
Late hit in the offensive backfield all the way from safety position in defensive backfield.
But he claims to be a ‘good guy’.
So... draxx.them.sklounst.
