Dogs From 'Meat Farm' In South Korea Arrive In San Diego For Adoption Dog from "meat-farm" arrives in San Diego
By TONY PERRY
Twenty-nine dogs that were once part of a "meat farm" in South Korea arrived Thursday in San Diego for possible adoption, part of a Humane Society program that hopes to end the Korean tradition of eating dog meat.
"The dog meat trade is one of the most horrific forms of cruelty," said Gary Weitzman, president and CEO of the San Diego Humane Society.
The Humane Society International has taken possession of more than 100 dogs from a South Korean farmer in recent months, paying the farmer to transition to other crops, according to news coverage in Korea.
The dogs have been sent to Humane Society and Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals chapters in the San Francisco Bay Area and Sacramento.
The 29 dogs -- mostly mastiffs, Jindo-mixes and Chihuahuas -- arrived Wednesday night on a 14-hour flight from South Korea to San Francisco International Airport.
A "special response team" from the San Diego Humane Society drove the dogs to San Diego, where they will be evaluated by veterinarians before being placed for adoption.

“Chihuahuas”
I wouldn’t think it would be worth the trouble to butcher one.
“The dog meat trade is one of the most horrific forms of cruelty,”
Um, how is it crueler than any other trade in meat?
Can’t be much meat on a Chihuahua. Hors d’oeuvre? Side dish?
Little Indian, Sioux, or Crow,
Little frosty Eskimo,
Little Turk or Japanee,
Oh! don’t you wish that you were me?
You have seen the scarlet trees
And the lions over seas;
You have eaten ostrich eggs,
And turned the turtle off their legs.
Such a life is very fine,
But it’s not so nice as mine:
You must often as you trod,
Have wearied NOT to be abroad.
You have curious things to eat,
I am fed on proper meat;
You must dwell upon the foam,
But I am safe and live at home.
Little Indian, Sioux or Crow,
Little frosty Eskimo,
Little Turk or Japanee,
Oh! don’t you wish that you were me?
You said it first, or I was gonna...
Yes, and pigs are as intelligent as most dogs. Better they be eaten than allowed to run wild.
Knew someone from Korea who was grossed out by bloody rare hamburger. I guess when you think about it it is kind of gross. Delicious, but gross.
It’s kind of funny that you have a chow chow.
The advance scouts shot the game. When the main force arrived it was rotted beyond use. They eventually started eating dog meat and thrived on it.
When they reached one tribe, that tribe was so starved one of the expedition shot a deer, the whole tribe ran almost two miles on foot, tore the animal apart and ate it raw, guts and all.
The expedition found there was almost no game in the Bitterroot mountains.
Stephan Ambrose wrote an excellent book on the subject. Well researched and documented. Wonder how he missed all of this?
Perhaps your research was more fruitful?
San Diego? Well it's better than San Fran.

The U.S. Marines captured at Corregidor did not eat thier dog Soo Chow and brought him home to San Diego in 1945. Soo Chow is buried at the Marine Corps Recruit Depot in San Diego. I suggest that these rescued Korean dogs go there and pay their respects.
People are made of meat. I wouldn’t eat one, but you can’t escape that fact.
Bwa-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha!!
POST OF THE WEEK!!!
Oh, great, now are we going to have a wave of immigrating dogs that we should provide for? Are there not enough dogs here alread who need homes?
No, the USA is a filthy culture. We have murdered millions of unborn babies in the past few decades, and recently it’s been revealed that some of them are being sold for parts at a tidy profit.
The Buddhists in India think cows are sacred and would be just as offended at our love of hamburgers.
Yeah, but at least it would stop his yapping.
Not hard to do. I just read the JOURNALS OF LEWIS AND CLARK a few years ago.
