As a former “shop” teacher, I do have some claim to expertise. This whole mess could have been avoided, if the moronic (yes!) and (seemingly) arrogant teacher who called the police had simply asked the kid’s “engineering” teacher what it was all about. I’m assuming here that the kid did mention that it was a project he brought in to show his engineering teacher. If this had happened to one of my students, I would have been livid — at the arrogant, moronic “academic” teacher, who never thought to ask me to clear things up.
