Exclsuive: Syrian army starts using new weapons from Russia - military source
BEIRUT | By Tom Perry
The Syrian military has recently started using new types of air and ground weapons supplied by Russia, a Syrian military source told Reuters on Thursday, underlining growing Russian support to Damascus that is alarming the United States.
"The weapons are highly effective and very accurate, and hit targets precisely," the source said in response to a question about Russian support. "We can say they are all types of weapons - be it air or ground."
The source said the army had been trained in the use of the weapons in recent months and was now deploying them, declining to give further details other than saying they were "new types".

An activist group called Raqqa is Being Slaughtered Silently said on its Twitter feed: “There is news about a large number of martyrs and wounded.”
Which course is obama playing today?
It Begins: Russian/Syrian Air Offensive On ISIS capital: ISIS Tweets "large number of martyrs"
Vlad could do us all a favor if he obliterated Raqqa. Obama’s air campaign against ISIS has never been effective and is more about PR optics than results.
This article says the Russians have helicopters in Syria.
The photos were for towed artillery. I wonder if the reports of self-propelled artillery were incorrect?
That’s good because ISIS has our weapons.

Using them? I'm shocked! Who would think they'd use them?
And we have 4 or 5 combatants left from the fifty some we trained for how many hundreds of millions?
That is because Obama WANTS ISIS to win. He doesn’t give a damned about the innocent people ISIS is enslaving and murdering.
I expect that if we had attacked Assad ourselves, we would have seen this Russian support for Assad sooner.
Why anyone in the west or the Saudis and the Gulf states thought you could engineer a regime change scheme against Assad, fronted as a mere domestic opposition and NOT see Iranian and Russia support for Assad grow in response made no sense from the beginning.
If our policy was to contain Assad (which we were doing) and keep Iranian and Russia direct activity in Syria to a minimum, attempting a regime change agenda against Assad merely insured the opposite result - Russia and Iran would increase direct activity in Syria.
