Agree about a lawsuit. If the parents wait for Immaculata to do it, forget it. Clearly an assault, private civil suit at least.
I wouldn’t leave it up to the school.
I’d make it personal .. because the HIT was personal.
It wasn’t a rough and tumble accident kind of hit .. it was purposeful - addressed to one particular player .. directly from another player.
Don’t know if you could hold the other school accountable for the student’s actions .. but the student himself needs to be held accountable for “assault with intent” - which is the charge for a direct action, which was on purpose, directed at one specific person.
I believe a 10” gash deserves a serious charge.
