It seems you have pointed out the fundamental flaw in the F35 project. Namely it is trying to be too many things to too many people right from the outset rather than focusing on a core mission and getting it right. In programming you start with a simple system and make the pieces work before getting more and more complex because if you start too complex it is impossible to fix the basic flaws to make the whole thing work. The F35 may be in the same bind starting out with too many factors to integrate well.
