David Brooks: Fans of Carson and Trump ‘Insufficiently Respect’ GOP Establishment

New York Times columnist David Brooks chastised supporters of Dr. Ben Carson and Donald Trump for showing “insufficient respect” for the Republican establishment.

“It’s like a mutiny, not a campaign,” Brooks said on Sunday’s Meet the Press.”The problem is, there’s an illusion in this country, and in the Republican base, that you can govern by screaming.”

Responding to host Chuck Todd’s earlier interview with Chris Christie, Brooks criticized the New Jersey governor for attacking the Republican party before he did Democrats. ”His first answer to you was not an attack on the Democrats, it wasn’t an attack on Hillary Clinton — it was an attack on Republicans,” he said.

“We have a very tough legislative system, and you need craftsmen,” Brooks continued. “And there is insufficient respect for that right now among the Carson and Trump supporters.”

“insufficiently Respect”??? Those traitors-to-their-electorate and traitors-to-their-oaths should be arrested, jailed and exiled.

"They" will only understand that the revolt against the GOP establishment began long before Trump, and long before Obama, when "they" are out of work and the rest of us are having to seriously consider street protests in order to have any voice at all.

Conservatives were fed up with the GOP-E when force fed Dole, McCain, Romney, and for many, G.W.Bush:
The party has been good old boy'd to its own death.

“Sufficient respect” for GOP establishment characters would involve fair trials and fine hangings.

How many different ways can they say that we're all just stupid rubes that should shut up already and get behind Jeb!??

The GOPe punditry is just trolling now. No sentient being is a stupid as they're pretending to be.

”The problem is, there’s an illusion in this country, and in the Republican base, that you can govern by screaming.”

When the bus is going over the cliff, the thing to do is to softly whisper, "pardon me, but I do believe that we've drifted a bit off course."

Respect has to be earned. Perhaps there is a message David Brooks is missing.

Maybe this one:

I’m not stupid, and hold the gop in contempt! I will respect those I believe have earned it not those that demand it.

I Will vote for Trump/Cruz and if the gope don’t like it... too bad!

Why should anyone care about advice the New York Times gives to Republicans?

The last Republican presidential candidate they endorsed for a November election was Eisenhower. That was before I was born!

And remember how the Times acted in 2008. First they recommended that the Republicans choose McCain in the primaries. Then when McCain had the nomination in the bag, they turned against him with frivolous charges of sexual harassment. That was a reminder to me that they don’t have the GOP’s best interests at heart, and it’s a safe bet that they don’t want a Republican to get elected next year.

Every statement like this drives Trump’s polls up another few points. And they can’t do to Trump what they are doing to Walker - basically ignore him until he goes away. Trump ain’t going away quietly.

Oh, my, I wonder if Brooks plans to form Etiquette Squads à la the Clinton people during the last presidential run of the PIAPS.

I can assure them, I definitely have no respect for the GOP establishment. This occurred because they first showed no respect for me as a voter.

More advice from a buffon, who is paid by the Ny Slimes to lie and spread dissent to any republican dumb enough to read his bs.

Follow the money on the Trump bashers pretending to help us be good people.

I don’t know who David Brooks is, but I can tell by his comments, he is out of touch with the American people!
