That is blatantly false. Cops are trained to use as much force as necessary to control a situation. Showing up with more than they need is a simple way to get perps to comply.

That is precisely what has lead to the foully murderous Warrior Cop mindset and over 50,000 paramilitary raids on American homes each year with close to 1,200 annual citizen deaths. I don't agree that it is false. I find it all too evident in our current police state trend.

No police force wants to be equally matched with the criminals. That makes no sense and risks having a situation get out of control, which means somebody is more likely to get hurt.

You are partly correct.

Not even the most incident-hardened, best-equipped and highly trained SWAT team in the United States is prepared to operate on an even-force basis.

And that is something that I don't believe they are really even thinking about as they bemoan their current loss of initiative and casualties.

It always amazes me when people bring up “bad apples” as if the police force were drawn from some group of perfect people who do not exist. Cops are human, they make mistakes. Considering there are thousands of police, sheriffs, etc. on the job 24/7, 365, the number of incidents of questionable use of force are remarkably small.

I disagree. I say there are far too bloody many. And that the current fatal ambushes of law enforcement in this country were predicted, unsurprising, inevitable and accelerating on a larger dominant trend.

We did warn them. Their egos got in the way. Ego is expensive, karma's a bitch, and when they play in your living room it's bad for the property value.

Thanks Robert. I just wasn’t in the mood. You did just fine though. I wouldn’t add a thing.
