Leftist Jeremy Corbyn elected leader of Britain’s Labour Party (Political Bombshell)

LONDON — Jeremy Corbyn’s stunning transformation from perennial leftist rebel to leader of Britain’s Labour Party upended British politics on Saturday and delivered a striking message worldwide: At this anti-establishment moment, parties of the left are just as vulnerable to populist takeovers as parties of the right.

The Corbyn victory represented an extraordinary rebuke to Labour’s more centrist powers-that-be, especially to former prime minister Tony Blair, who had campaigned vigorously against Corbyn and who argued that his selection would mean the party’s “annihilation.”

I’m not sure how they would change anything in England.

I meant “he,” not “they.”

The man is a moonbat. He is farther to the left by far than Bernie Sanders. He has expressed sympathy with the IRA, Hamas and Hezbollah. He wants to bring Britain back to the days before Thatcher, when British industry was mostly nationalized and taxes were through the roof. He wants the trade unions to dictate economic policy. He is also a republican (anti-monarchist) in a country where The Queen enjoys a near 80% approval rating.

His election as the head of the Labour Party means he is now the head of Her Majesty’s Loyal Opposition. If Labour were to win a general election he would presumably be the the next Prime Minister. But he is such a wackjob that most of the shadow cabinet (Labour’s opposition ministers) just resigned enmasse. He has been attacked directly by almost all of Labour’s former ministers and the last two Labour Prime Ministers, Gordon Brown and Tony Blair.

Good. If only Sanders or Biden could knock Hillary out.

Britain's Tories are to the left of Bernie Sanders.

This isn’t a joke though. He is like a Hugo Chávez, This is a pivotal moment for the UK. EIther it kills the Labor party, or it kills the UK (if he ever gains power).

Britain's Tories are to the left of Bernie Sanders.

I see where 007 ... err Daniel Craig, favors Vermont's Bernie. I know he is a movie twit BUT I guess that with what he is used to it makes sense in a leftward way!

You beat my post. If he’s done more than vote present a few times though, he is already far more qualified than the Kenyan squatter.

Will they ever learn? Or is it always going to be learning the hard way?

Can this be explained in a manner that those of us on the other side of the salty pond can understand?

All I can see is that if this clown is to the left of Bernie Sanders, your side of the pond is in for some really interesting times...

What are the odds that he makes PM?

The former, Corbyn wont be elected in 2020. Unless he is ousted, he has just secured a Tory or UKIP win next GE.

The labour faithful obviously needed a return to the hard left.
(They may have had a bit of help, ahem)
They have just secured the next Tory landslide victory.
The selection system is a little like preaching to the converted, the more loony the remaining faithful become the bigger the pilock they elect.
